Not looking for nor expecting anything intellectual here. The point is, again, (and again, and again, and again and so on and so forth, etc.) if you weren't there, you weren't there. It is pure comedy how people have a genetic compulsion to project/envisage themselves retrospectively in a vacuum.

To your point, it is intriguing how people who weren't there, and therefore could have never helped, have some need to tell us all how they would have specifically conducted themselves. Abject silliness.

 

I was talking the other day with my boss... and I was saying to him that I would like to think I would jump in and help.. but reality is you never know if you would until you ARE there... but I would hope that I would have done something... of course all the thoughts would have been what if they then retaliate towards my kids too... and Jack I agree play hard play dirty... heck in a situation like that.. first shot would be a kick to the groin of one, then laying whatever into the rest before they realise...

While it still shouldn't have turned into a beatdown (and doesn't justify it in any way), I get the feeling that dad overreacted somewhere.

They can? So apparently I can say it too. :yumyum: I don't use the word at all, never have and never will but I grew up around people who used it constantly. You need to realize something though .. . The fact is that when non-black people use it towards a black person it is obvious that it's being used maliciously. We all know the horrid history of the word, so why would you even wanna use it? People most often use ni66a as dude/man, the thing that you may or may never understand is that there is a HUGE difference between ni66er and ni66a. Sounds ridiculous but its a part of the language and culture.

 

I didn't say it warranted or justifed anything (in fact I said it didn't).
However, this seems like a situation where walking away rather than confronting would have been the right option.

We don't call that sexual assault, we call that being a creepy ******* (there's various ways we COULD charge that though)

 

I wasn't looking for your justification for it, I'm just curious what the assailants felt was worth that kind of beating.

 

Me too.
I mean if dad threw a punch first, I could see how it got out of hand. (This is NOT self-defense. The force used was way beyond acceptable and was used well after it was clear the father was not a threat. Also, the ability to call you buddies makes it pretty obviously not self-defense)
