Just seeing if anyone would be able to help me out with an issue I'm having or has had the same thing happen to them. When I attempt to put gas in my car, my car will not let me lock the nozzle in the fill position, as it almost immediately stops as if the tank is full. This happens whether I have a 1/4 tank or a 3/4 tank, and happens at every pump and at different locations. I've pretty much canceled out all of the possibilities of it being an issue at the pump. After some mild research on some different forums, and a bit on Alldata I am thinking it has to be an issue with a vent valve or a clogged hose in the filler neck. Can anyone help me diagnose my issue and get me in the right direction for repairing this very annoying issue? Thanks

    Mitch

charcoal canister may be pooped out

i recently removed Nater's evap line to check (because he was having the same problem) and tons of little charcoal bits were dropping out of the line.

Hmmm, i suffered the same issue after the flood and i believe that Ylime was also dealing with it too. Mine somehow fixed itself. But Matt at RS said to try to use a metal clothes hanger in the filler tube. He just said run it in there and poke around a bit. But it sounds like Nuke-Daddy may be on to something with his comment. Mine was probably the charcoal canister too and it just cleared over time? It's super annoying tho!

In the little hole above the filler hole. Not the filler itself.

the other day I actually filled my tank e85 and had it about 90% held. Was so happy I didn't have to play with it.

When I put gas in yesterday, I saw a small hole right below the filler hole. Is that the one you are talking about Bikerboy?

Actually, I just checked that is on older cars. You have to pull off the filler neck cover in the passenger rear wheel well. There you will find a metal tube that comes out of the filler neck at the top. There is a rubber hose connected to it. Pull the hose and blow air into both ends and that should fix it. If not you will need to look at an obstruction in the charcoal canister.
