Edit 5/31/2011: Pics in post 38 ------------------------------------ No pics... these are plants/flowers... so I'm told... 2 black thumbs here. Got a half dozen or so hostas for free if you want to come pick them up. Split about 2 dozen of them and replanted as many as we could. They've been uprooted for a few days now since we don't have any pots to put them in, but they've been watered and are still holding up. My co-worker picked up a dozen or so yesterday, but we still have a half dozen or so left and will be splitting more tonight or tomorrow. PM for address if you're interested. Hate to have to throw these away.
Is that some kind of racist comment? Hostas are pretty hardy plants, they'll survive a lot of weird conditions that most other plants won't. Very good for shady areas where you need something that looks good but won't get a ton of sunlight.
Bob Hostas is not for sale. Hostas will thrive damn near anywhere....scorching sun or shade. Great for xeriscaping. That's right, I'm a closet green hippie. Just got some new Roma and San Marzano tomahto plants this AM!
If you'd have posted this yesterday, when I was at my office in Falcon Heights, they'd be gone already. We need a few for our landscaping. Might still work out. I'll PM you.
Thanks for taking these off my hands guy. We'll likely have more split tomorrow... the previous owner let them grow into 2-3 foot wide bundles and they looked like ass. Also have a random rhubarb plant and some tulips that are uprooted and slowly dying.
No, but looking at your Memorial Day thread it seems like you have some Hmong sausage for him to smoke
Bump. Got some more. 1 bigger one and a few small ones. Theyre out of the ground so come get them asap if you want em.
We'll take the small ones if they're still available tomorrow. One of us could pick them up tomorrow, either at FS or pick them up at your place.
That was directed towards Sheen, not you. Last year he posted right after I was in his neighborhood. This year he does it again.
Mark missed them by a day last year also lol Emily, joel, ill try to bring them tomorrow. If im not there just stop by, ill be in the garage. There should be 1 1 foot wide one and a few tiny ones for each of you.
we run over hostas every time we load and unload the car trailer. like tonight lol. should have brought them over sheen - we could have run over twice as many!
Annual bump. We have at least 1 plant that we would like to uproot this weekend or next. It is 2'x2' and about 1 foot tall. Anyone want it?
Alright, 4th year in a row... probably should have posted this before memorial day weekend, but they've REALLY taken off this week. I have about a dozen plants (2'x2' and almost knee high) that I want to split and replant... again. LMK if you're interested and you can come pick them out of ground.
Talk to Sheen! We're going to divide them and expand the bed (looking to eventually have a row along the side of the house from front to back, about 60', with the way these things grow that should be by next summer!)
Apparently I sprayed too much HGH on them Patrick is coming by to get some today. I need to split all of them and I'd be very surprised if he takes them all (or is able to fit them in his car). Swing by soon and pick them out of the ground!
Thanks again, Patrick! You brought up a good point... these plants are pretty hearty. Here are some pics from today so you have an idea what you're getting: That's a size 11.5 baseball cleat for reference (pretty much a foot long): Last Spring, the plant on the right^ was the size of the plant on the left. Patrick took 4 medium sized plants and they would have taken up the back seat area of a GD sedan. The remaining 10 or so plants need to go: This whole backyard hosta-take-over-area needs to be split, so half of these need to go: This is what the same area looked like 2 years ago when we last split them from this spot: Most of them bloom purple but a few of them bloom white. thanks for looking!
Well they're out of the ground as of today. We still have half a dozen large plants (each can be split in half or thirds) left after giving several away to neighbors. Come get them if you want them!
if they aren't taken by this weekend I'll grab them from you... I could plant them for a mother's day surprise when she's out of town.
