Bah, where were you three days ago! Just went a bought a bunch of hostas too. The whole time I was thinking, "I wonder if Idget will be offering up some hostas again?"
Bummer! Should have called to check. Between the front and back yard, these F'ers need to be split every year.
Hmm, I'm going to be in St. Paul this evening... Though I already have a couple of year's splittings of these, and I can start splitting the ones I got 2 years ago to cover the remainder of the space I want to cover. I split the ones I got last year into the tiniest possible sections and this year I have about 20 full plants from what were nearly single leaves last spring. If you want coverage, these are the ones to go with.
Did you grab the green/white ones or the all green ones? The all green ones are out of control. Must be something in the soil.

gotta be different soil conditions - as for what i grabbed i don't remember. natalie is collecting hostas, wants some of every type, we even have a blue one.
They don't do much right after you split them. The next season they get decent sized, the third, they go ape****.

Emily, I took them all, but realized after we were putting them in the ground that one was a different variety (green/white instead of all green), so we set that one aside (in a pot so it can recover). If you're interested, you can come grab that one.
Yeah we have a whole row of them that need to come up sooner or later. Some are spoken for but there's on that can easily be split into 4. Show up ready to dig.

Green leaves. Blooms purple. Pulling 3 massive ones this weekend then splitting and replanting on a 12' stretch between the fence and the alley. Guessing there will be 2 whole plants leftover. Text me if youre interested.
2017 bump. Got one out of the ground (that I pulled last summer, left out of the ground for almost a year now, and has somehow come back to life) and several that need to be split.
Delivery to WA? My wife was just asking who we used to get hostas from... Those were the best growing hostas we've ever had.
