***SOLD*** Hi, everyone. I don't get on here very often, so excuse my low posts-per-day count! I'm selling my 03 bugeye as below. Happy to e-mail interested parties more pics. I've listed what I thought were fair prices (w/ and w/o HID's), but I found it hard to know what this sort of car is typically selling for--seems all over the map. So I'm open to some movement on the price. Thanks! 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan Platinum Silver Metallic Manual transmission Mileage: 73,xxx Price: $12,500 with OEM headlights; $13,500 with LightWerkz HID’s. Location: Eagan <<Note: Pics taken late Oct. 2008; winter wheels are on car now, Enkei RPF-1’s pictured available discounted to buyer of car as detailed below>> Vitals: Clean title, owned outright (no liens) One owner, non-smoker Adult driven No issues Pics at bottom Reason for sale: Bought a new 2008 STI: I love this bugeye, but as a father of two young children, I just couldn’t pass up the increased utility of a hatch and the added safety of side curtain airbags (and the current 0% x 63mo. and well-below-invoice pricing). This car has been outstanding to me and I will miss it spirited nature. I thought about keeping it as a pure autocross car, but I just can’t justify two insurance premiums for the minimal use it would see (not to mention the temptation for some major $$$ mods if this were no longer a daily driver!). Current setup is a great daily driver-performance compromise and served me well in combined commuting / autocross / daycare transport duty. Cliffs Notes: Good condition, Stage 2 WRX with a fair amount of suspension upgrades. Nearly everything requiring more than rudimentary wrenching skills done by Matt (bikerboy), so rest assured of high quality install work. Engine/Exhaust Stock EJ20, no issues. Cobb Accessport (Version 1), currently running off-the-shelf Clark Turner Stage 2 map; original box, all connectors included in sale. OEM boost gauge and autodimming rearview mirror Intercooler protector screen Optima RedTop battery, 35-720-90RC, Fall 2006 Kenwood Excelon speakers (driver’s front rattles, haven’t looked at it yet) Bazooka powered 50W subwoofer, removable for autocross Cruise control clip recall (SOA635073) 5/2004 ABS module optional SOA replacement 4/2006 Fuel filter changed May 2007 PCV valve changed April 2008 Daytime running light module is disconnected Optional item Lightwerkz HID retrofit, BiXenon FX35 projectors, TSX clear lenses, Denso ballasts, Chrome amber turn signal bulbs, Superwhite LED parking light bulbs, Plug-N-Play Harness (Retail $1350 + shipping, Lightwerkz.com); installed May 2008 so still like new. This is definitely one of my favorite mods—car looks so much better and night visibility is so much better (and better than the HID’s on my new 08 STI). High beams are pretty unreal (my STI uses a separate halogen projector high beam, not these HID BiXenons). Downside is they’re pricey, so it’s your call if you to pay for them or just stick with the OEM headlights ($1000 off car price with OEM’s instead of these). Other vehicle history: One parking lot incident—an unwitnessed bump and run in my hospital physicians’ parking lot, if you can believe that (I’m hoping it was a penniless intern and not a neurosurgeon). It put a good sized indentation in the passenger-side rear door. No paint damage, but too big for PDR (I tried to push it out from inside, but just ended up with two smaller dents—see autocross photo), so bodyshop repaired in May 2008. In the spirit of full disclosure, in direct sunlight after a wash, you can unfortunately sorta tell where the new and old paint are not perfectly blended at the top of the passenger rear door. Would be pretty hard to notice unless you were looking for it. Autocrossed locally (2 seasons in stock form—D Stock—1 season in current STX trim); all autocross done at stock boost settings due to class rules. Of note, to meet new SCCA STX class rules, the uppipe and downpipe would need to be replaced with different units—contact me if you want further details as to why (it’s a bit complicated…) Never tracked. Never drag raced / street raced. Also driven in ~8 local rallycrosses, also in stock form prior to new suspension parts (rallycross was pretty rough on the stock struts); no rallycross action since 2005. Was in mostly stock form until April 2007 (only mods at that point were Prodrive axleback, Accessport Stage 1, upgraded tires, debadging). Most other mods installed in April 2007, so lots of life left in these parts. No known current issues: no wheel bearing problems, tranny shifts smoothly with no grinding, and no rattles. Only minor annoyance is that the center armrest latch keeps popping off. Few door dings, front bumper cover has expected scuffs of a 5-year-old car, but still looks pretty good. Interior condition is good (not great, but good; a steam clean would probably help). No rips/tears and taken good care of (new OEM seat covers available as below). Just got its winter coat of wax. Averages 25 MPG in summer, 22 MPG in winter. Currently only being driven once/week to keep things in working order. Freebies with sale: OEM uppipe, downpipe, F/R swaybars+struts+springs, headlights (if HID’s purchased), front grill and side inserts, shift knob, “WRX / Impreza” and “S U B A R U” trunk emblems Winter wheels (unsexy, but effective!):
Wow... That's a sexy car... It almost makes me wish I was in the market again... Good luck with the sale, it looks like quite a bargain.
Very nice, I like. :yumyum: GL with sale. I think I have seen you at Autocross, I like your car a lot.
YES! Do it Moh! Come back to the darkside, or the lightside or whatever.... lol Seriously, I'd do it if I were you.
Thanks for all the compliments--it's a fun car to drive. Drove it the other day and wow, this car handles so much better than the stock 08 STI (will be fixing that in the Spring, however!) Pre-Thanksgiving bump.
Sale pending for next week. I'll be sure to update this post if it sells (and put up the leftovers for sale, too). Thanks!
Congrats! Quick question, does the Schroth quick-release harness fit your 08? It's my understanding that the seat belt buckle sizes changed (smaller) on the 07+ models, but I haven't had the chance to confirm. thanks!
I think it was actually 06 when Subaru changed the belts, but you're right, those won't work on my new STI. This is really too bad, since the 08 STI seats are terrible, obesity epidemic USDM style (makes me appreciate the seats in this 03 WRX all the more). I also hear that CG Locks aren't a great solution, because the new, higher mounting of the seatbelt receptacle causes the CG Lock cam to press into your abdomen. Swap 03 WRX seats into 08 STI? Hmmmm....... If the car sells to this buyer, those will be one of the leftovers...
SOLD! New owner's plans are for track-day use, so maybe you'll see this car at BIR this summer. Will be posting a separate thread for leftover parts after the new year. Thanks, everyone!
