a few more pics tonight. i love my match piston to combustion chamber. put back on the oil pressure switch and the wrist pin service plugs.
I dont know if you found grainger or not. but this is the tool I piked up at there plymouth store. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1EZP2?Pid=search Branch: 495 2450 Annapolis Lane N. Plymouth, MN 55441-3600 Phone: (763) 531-0300
Northern Tool has a 14mm hex key for like 9 or 10 bux. Or at least the used to. The socket would be better though. I needs one. And not one from the Snap-On guy.
So powerful it'll eat your EVO up!!!!! here's to keep my oil in my oil pan. I fill up the NEW '06 WRX oil pan with a gallon of water, it's like 1/2-3/4" from the top! Oh yes, and my snack!!! Pork stuff buns? Forgot what they're called. My quench!!!! You can see!! QUENCH!!! I like my piston's dish.

That Evo is going to get eaten alive by your car as soon as that engine gets in there. Lets see, built engine with higher compression pistons, a GT30R turbo, and a very light car. It'll take a very brutal Evo or something crazy brutal in the land of Subys to be able to keep up with your car. IMHO, Fuji should continue video of his progress and make a living off of this stuff. Then again, some exotic car shop should pick him up or he could write and review products and make money on top of it. Fuji's easily the best contributer in the Suby world as a wisdom of personal advice, but also for his crazy amazing builds that defy the usual garbage we are accostomed to seeing. Cheers and keep up the good work!!!
^^^^^Thanks Mike! 12mm oil pump, not shimmed. Also timing belt cover to head/block bolts instead of philips screws. What do you see different here......
The head gasket doesn't line up perfectly. What head gasket is that? My .051" Cometics were fine. Like money in the bank, show me whatchu drank...
Also, a little FYI, Derek wants to sell his old 30R setup, TS manifold and all. He's gonna post it up when he gets around to buying a membership since he doesn't post at all.
DROOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!! It's so damn beautiful. I should...should...!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you get this sucker in this weekend mango! It's time for a nice long trip to break this sucker in and get to the track for a 10 second time slip
The triangles should be enough to give away what we see differently here. Even my non-engine builder's eyes can see this one clearly. Very smart concept, btw. Where did you learn about this one? BTW, what kind of power can the GT30R put down with your 2.2L setup? Man...9:0:1 pistons and a brutal block/heads/large enough turbo...talk about putting the passenger's lungs into seizure at WOT.
Well.... one must think very hard. Water flow to least resistant, right? If you look at where I made extra holes, you'll know what I mean. Cylinders #3/4 are hottest. More flow over there means cooler coolant can get there to help cool those two cylinders down. At least in theory that is. Very simple to do with a small carbide bur on a Dremel. With the setup, maybe 400whp possible with 24psi on E85.
just PERFECT!!! PERFECT!!!! here it is. Mocking up the manifold.... This is like new-age 22B STi motor... lolz
Very good points about the heat in those cylinders, especially #4 which seems to get killed all the time. I saw the extra holes and I love that fab job. I'm still curious if you made this one up or if you learned it from someone/somewhere. With 24psi and 9:0:1 pistons, I should think you could be near 450WHP on E85. I suppose we'll have to wait and see, but you have the goods to make some serious power on this engine. I suppose the only restriction may be the GT30R, though it's all about what you are aiming for. Not to repeat, but keep getting clips and pics of all your work.
Hot damn. Now only if we could get our hands on a set of EJ22G heads. I'd love to see what kind of flow capacity they have. The 22B is my all time dream engine stock wise. V7/V8 is darn sweet, but I love what they did with the 22B engine. Car isn't too shabby looking either.
Testing out the shifting and response time on the DBW system of a '05 STi. FFS enabled. Run through gears 2-3-4 VF39 stg2 E85 eBay TMIC SSAC 4-1 headers Invidia DP/catback 900cc injectors topfeed ACT sprung 6puck on OEM PP/FW This will give me an idea of how well the DBW system is. As you know my previous swap was a '02/03 WRX swap, which is cable throttle.
what i have notic about my 05lgt with DBW is that when your just crusin low rpm shifts u got to bump the gas when u let out the clutch. when in high rpms or fast shifting the DBW will hold/bump the rpms automatical for a sec
Interesting. I really need to drive an STI or at least sit in one to get a feel of this system and the overall feel of the car. I've heard clips of a few STIs and then clips of Imprezas we EJ20 swaps and the STI engine has a certain sound to it that is almost husky/rough. Hard to explain, but it's not a clean throughput like say, a VER7/8 EJ207 engine with that super smooth and clean high revving power. I think it's a bit tough to know just how your car would be by comparison to the STI when activating the DBW system since your engine is very different and your car is very different (400lbs lighter too). You can get a general idea, but I don't think you will know until you have tried both ways in your own car with your own engine setup.
ahhh......rice, eggs, pepper and salt, that's how we roll on a long day in the garage hmoob. haha i like that pix. I'm gonna start making time to come by firestone or other events so i could get my 02 wrx the proper treatment and seeing all you guys cars and set up, and Fuji my bro-n law Sao Thao talks about you alot, he just got another 2.5rs, so maybe will meet very soon in the future. when do everyone plan to show up at firestone? every fri and sat nite or so i'll roll through and sometimes it's pack, sometimes only a few, and sometimes no one, is there a thread or maybe the calender?
^^ There is a firestone thread look it up but meets happen on fridays mostly and when it's not raining.
cool thanks. i guess standing outside in the bad weather is different than driving in it. cause you know, i only come on bad weather. haha
A couple of parts laying around. putting together the intake manifold. plugged the TGVs... small stuff so far. SO MUCH STUFF on the manifold! ugh!
Mocking up the intake manifold onto the TGV's and head. These TGV's are NOT a direct bolt-on to the manifold. Four of the holes don't line up since this manifold has larger runners and shaped differently. I'll show a pic when I'm done modifying the manifold.
Here is the modification needed. Slight oval of the holes. I bolted the TGV's onto the heads and trimmed away at the holes on the intake manifold. Installation would be TGV's first, then upper manifold 2nd. This ensures that there is NO step or drop from TGV to head and allows for smooth flow from TGV to intake ports.
rods are eagle...pistons are CP....lol i guess not so JDM........opps!!!! i should get some Tomei....but i need custom...stuff for a few that belt is JDM!!!! made in japan!!!!!
I installed the belt and put together the clutch. Such pretty colors but....will be inside where it can't be seen.
