Just got my tracking number today. He was a little overwhelmed with orders I guess. Hopefully they're nice. I'll post tons of pictures once I get them.
Right on. I swore it said they would start shipping 11/1. I messaged him (again) on Facebook yesterday, but never got a reply. He's probably sick of me asking about it EDIT: Just looked at the GB page again: "*Round 1 will begin shipping around 11/1" My gripe is if they aren't going to start shipping "around 11/1", let us know what is going on. He has everyone's email addresses obviously. If production is a month behind, it is what it is, but how about an update? My guess is they got held up in customs coming over on a boat from China I digress.
I don't even remember when I ordered mine, you're probably right. I am pretty confident that he builds them here. I know he did say he does source parts from overseas but full assembly is done in house. We'll find out when they show up.
Should be here Friday. Friggen abw widebody has been held in customs for over a week so I'm not optimistic right now
Just got mine.... I've seen better welds.... Otherwise they are pretty nice for the price. Emphasis on the price. I'd go another route next time, maybe FEALs or something, heard those are nice but gotta pay for the quality. We'll see how long these last.
yeah that's not very confidence inspiring at all. I wouldn't run those unless I was being paid to. And even then I wouldn't run them on public roads.
They look like they are only welded on one side also. I'm definitely not an expert on welding, but they really don't look like they have any penetration, and only welded on one side. I'd keep a very close on on those. I'd never run those hard.
Yeah, those look like an accident waiting to happen. I'm no expert on welding either, but 'quality' is not a word jumping to mind.
I didn't think Flatout would put their reputation at risk by putting their name on a subpar product, since up until now they mainly make higher end coilovers for "rally stage" applications. The pictures are a bit disappointing. I still haven't received mine. Maybe the welds got better after some practice on the first few sets that went out
Still waiting........ Seems like a different excuse every time I ask the guy. Now he's saying they were shipped over two weeks ago and must have gotten lost. No tracking info was sent to me "when they were shipped" and he cannot confirm what the tracking number was..."some of the orders got mixed up". So supposedly he's building mine this week and they are now 52mm shock bodies instead of 50mm because they supplier changed or something and are better than the group buy sets...yeah I'll believe it when I see it. I'm about ready to file a claim through PayPal and just say screw it.
I finally opened up the other 3 to take pictures and the other ones had much better welds. Just happened that the first one I opened had crappy ones... Only need to redo 1 mount .. still sucks but what do ya do when they were only $650.
I have been messaging him...basically once a week since 11/1 (the date in which they were supposed to start shipping orders). He says UPS will only let him ship 3 shipments per day, due to the holiday...well that math doesn't add up. After 2 weeks they should have all been shipped. I messaged him earlier this morning and no reply. If it were me, I'd ship the guy's order who keeps messaging me every week as soon as I could so he'd quit bugging me about it!
After multiple FB messenger messages, emails, and a voice mail with no response, I filed a PayPal claim against him last Friday. Not a peep from him even after that. Today I messaged him yet again on FB messenger (I wasn't blocked afterall) and he said he'd just gotten off a plane after returning from a family emergency and assured me (again) that my set would be top priority to get shipped out. Supposedly I'll have tracking info tonight...not holding my breath though.
Just kidding...now UPS has lost the package (again). He's just as frustrated with the situation as I am and promises to make it right. Still giving him a chance...for now. My car isn't ready for them yet anyway I guess. Biggest cluster I've ever dealt with in dealing directly with a company.
Mine has been going off for a while now... Yes, tracking is the same as it was a week ago when he gave it to me: "Shipping info received" AKA: the label has been created and that's it.
...16 days later, the package made it to The UPS Store. This is the tracking number I was given originally (back on 1/9)...I get the feeling that UPS never even had the package to begin with...ever. Hopefully they will be here next week and I can quit crying about it in this thread. Supposedly my order was upgraded to the "SR52 model", which is a 52mm shock body and a helper spring. I'm hopeful that the strut mount welds are a little nicer than the prior variant. https://www.flatoutsuspension.com/collections/impreza/products/srgd?variant=28539929169
It sucks... At first this all seemed to be an amazing deal and his customer service was amazing during the ordering process. That being said... Every thing after the fact showed lack of business experience and or simply not caring. Not impressed with his communication skills with customers that already gave him money for a product that was promised to ship months ago.... I had the exact same thing happen with the shipping labels being made with no movement for weeks. I think he took on more than he could handle and unfortunately chose to lie to his customers. I know for a fact that ups would never ever ever limit the amount of shipments you could send on any given day. I work in the industry and know that's a buncha BS. At least this thread will be a good warning to others looking at doing business with Flatout... I for one, will never do business with them again, simply for the poor execution of the group buy and for being lied to.
Only 4 months later...I finally got mine today. Quality (or lack thereof) is what I expected...powdercoat (probably paint) easily scrapes off and welds that look like my own. Even the stickers are barely hanging on. For the price, I can't complain a whole lot I suppose. But yeah, like I said earlier this was the biggest cluster I'd ever been involved with in working directly with a business. It was literally one story after another. I wasn't buying the UPS BS either. If it wasn't for the fact that my car isn't even ready for them yet, I'd have probably pulled the plug much sooner. I think you're right, he was in over his head and tried to do what he could to save face. I was able to bitch enough to get him to upgrade the order to the newer, revised version of his entry level coils (52mm instead of 50mm and a helper spring thingy). I dunno, we'll see how they do. I have to get fender back on my car before I can get them dialed in. This is a close up of probably one of the better welds
