Can you get Vatiivas? I need some for the Brat. Not exactly sure what size. something maybe 205/x/15 ish that will give me about a 28"-30" tire. EDIT: did some looking. might have to be a 225/75/15. they sound $$$. we will have to see i guess.
the link for the rsi's did not work for me. here is the one from last years thread. http://www.nokiantyres.com/passengercars_product_en?product=610499&name=NOKIAN+HAKKAPELIITTA+RSi also can you switch me from the rsi's to the Hakka's and to a 205-55-16? Thanks. Depending on the pricing and my employment status, I may get some for Beths mazda 6 as well.
What is the wear like on these two? I may be in but I would like something that lasts a couple of years even if they see some warmer temps.
I bought the RSis last winter in the GB. I put them on when it was consistantly below 40* I ran them all winter including a few trips to Orr, and duluth. I LOVE THESE TIRES! worth every penny IMO. I took them off when it started getting warm out (above 40*) and right now they look brand new tread wise.
The RSi might start to wear faster when the temps get up there, I've never run them much over 50F. They don't turn to mush like the Blizzaks do though, so they're going to wear OK. We're going into the third winter with them on my wife's car, and tread is over 80% IIRC. The Hakka 2's I've got get put on in October, driven hundreds of miles to MI and back (and on gravel roads, etc) for the Lake Superior rally, warm or cold, then do the whole winter here and get dismounted at the end of March. This will be my fourth winter on them, and I think they still have ~75% tread. They are similar in compound to the Hakka 5's Mike is selling. Here's my opinion... If you do mostly city driving, get the RSi. They're a great ice tire, good in wet and damn good in the dry for a winter tire. If you drive out in the country, where it may be a while before the plows hit the roads you're driving, get the Hakka 5. They won't be quite as good on ice as the RSi, but will be better in deep snow. I'd get in on the buy, but I already have Hakkas for all my cars
Had my RSi's for two winters. I think they are now at around 9/32nds (12/32 new). I put them on/off around 8C/46F.
I've used the Hakka RSi since last fall and have loved them! I give them two !!! Plenty of tread left after using them from October through March I drove through all of the snow storms last year and through plenty of pretty icey, slushy roads and they did a terrific job! Worth every penny and less than any Blizzak you can find out there... BUMP for great tires, and a great guy to have install them for ya! I have now purchased winter and summer tires from Mike and he is very easy to work with and offers very competitive pricing. He is DAMN busy though... LOL!
Probably in for some 225/45/17 rsi's. Like I stated in the other thread, if you need help getting them back to the cities, I can help ya out. Russ
w00t good choice. You can get by just fine with springs/coils up there. I ran coils the first year (so did kelly) and pink springs last year (and this year). worked PERFECT. good choice on the 205/50/R16 I am rocking those same tires and they work great at teh ice races. still waiting to hear about the vatiivas
last year I had prodrive springs on, no problems but there was a woping 3 inches of snow on the ice..
^ heres the same site I found that made me decide to go 55 http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp?action=submit
so whats the tread depth on these when brand new? And are they 100% silica or 50/50 like the ripoff bilzacks? Also I'm in ND will they ship to my door??
^ the 205/50/R16 is the same size as the stock LX 195/60/R15. so thats what I am running. Pretty much the only difference is a little sidewall, and about like $40 per tire. I like having lower profile snow tires than my summers. Mike: any word on the vatiivas
I went with the 205/50R16 last year on my stocker WRX rims. Worked just fine. Just left a gap and looked a little silly. But the $100+ I saved was worth it.
Well I am currentally at Colorado rally, and the pricing is taking longer then expected. I was last told I should have the prices next week.
*** Mike *** We are selling my wife's car, hopefully soon, so I might not need the RSI's. I will measure em up and let you know asap. Thank you,
Prices are now final Hella STi - these are 100% silica these are not rip off tires like Blizzaks 2.5~RS - 215/55R15 is not a avaiable size
