Well since winter is comming, it is time to think about snow tires. I was able to convince the guys over at Nokian Tires to offer MNsubaru some deacent prices. I am also able to Mount, Balance, and dispose of the old tires. I need to get atleast 16 tires ordered, so 4 sets to get these prices. Then if we are able to get lots of orders (10+ sets), I will be able to get them cheaper yet. I will like to offer this group guy until October 15st, then I should see the tires that week. For tires purchaced on this GB I will mount and balance; 14"-16" tires for $35 per set 17" tires for $45 per set Here are the most common Subaru sizes, just ask for additional sizes. Hakkapeliitta RSi, (this tire is used by most competitors at Sno*drift) More info in the RSi http://www.nokiantyres.com/passengercars_product_en?product=610499&name=NOKIAN+HAKKAPELIITTA+RSi 195/60R15 $ 205/50R16 $ 205/55R16 $ 215/45R17 $ 225/45R17 $ 205/50R17 $ 225/55R17 $ Hakkapeliitta 4 studdable (this is the Hakka 2 replacement) More info in the Hakka 4 http://www.nokiantyres.com/passengercars_product_en?product=610495&name=NOKIAN+HAKKAPELIITTA+4 195/60R15 $ 205/55R16 $ 225/45R17 $ 1. You know I am in on this Mike. I just don't know enough about the two tires to know which one to get. Put me down for a set for sure 225/45R17. Maybe some descriptions of the tires???
hakka's typically last longer and bite better than blizacks. bilizacks are only really "snow tires" through half their tread life... their only siped down through half the thread block. Hakkas are siped all the way to the bottom so they grip better, longer. i ran the NRWs on my saturn, and i was passing 4x4s on un-plowed country roads. i run the RSIs on my WRX, and just plain hook up awesome.. it's just stunning the level of grip and control these tires offer in poor conditions.
well put me down for a set of RSIs. 205/55/R16. i suppose these will be differnt outer diameter then my current 195/60/r15s? hmm..... might be time for more fender rolling. oohh and i need mount and balance too. i dont supose there is anyway to do this so i can keep the same outer diameter?
Martin, you can go with a 205/50R16 and that would be the exact diameter as your current 195/60R15 tire.
^ Make it so! are the 205/50/r16s cheaper then the 205/55/r16? same? more? any idea what these retail for?
For traction, the RSi will beat any Blizzak except the Revo. Then it's pretty much equal. But as stated before, the Blizzaks use a multi-compound tread, and they loose a huge amount of traction once they wear down to the second layer. The first layer is also very soft (which is why it works as well as it does), and wears very quickly, especially if you're driving on dry pavement a lot (like most of the time in the cities, even in the winter). Blizzaks also have very soft sidewalls, which is bad if you hit curbs or potholes, because they won't protect your wheels as well, and they're more likely to be damaged themselves. Blizzaks feel like you're driving on big sponges (which you essentially are), the Hakkas handle better than the stock RE92 that comes on the non-STi WRX does, even on dry roads. I drove Blizzaks for years and finally made the switch to Hakkas on my Subaru (I got a good deal on a used set from Mayhem83 back a few years ago), and I'm sold. I've since bought three sets for various cars, and I can tell you that the price is a bargain for the performance. If you typically drive around the cities, the RSI is the way to go. It's a killer tire on the ice, like oh, racing on a frozen lake up north in January... The Hakka 4 would be a better choice if you live out in the country and drive a lot on unplowed roads in deep snow.
That is the mounting and balancing for the 14-16 inch tires. Read the rest of the thread. Prices for the tires are below that.
Mike, you don't mind if I offer this GB to the MNAudi folks too would you? More business IMO. If not, let me know and I'll tell them guys/gals to bug off from knocking down your door. I'm interested in 2 sets of Nokian Hakka 4 in 205/50/17 and 225/55/17. Could you get me a price quote on those please? Also how much just for 2x Nokian WR's or a full set in 225/45/17?
very interesting I have the stock RE92's 215/45/17 on my Legacy. Which size of the rsi's will work best for me? Also I would like to get wheels for summer tires, next summer planning, what do people like? Dont want to spend a bundle. thanks jack
Sorry for the delay, I have been very busy lately. Sogonerg- PM sent yosmiley- Sure, I am willing to open this up to a few more LOCAL clubs mac-leg- a 215/45R17 would be a the size to go with on the RSi, I can get you a price on that tommarow.

what no Nokian WRs on this list for those that my want to opt for the best of both all season and light snow in one pkg ?
Mike, do you offer steel wheels as well for sale? I'm looking for a set of 16" steel wheels for the wife's car.
You can put me down for a set of four RSI's in 205/60/R16. And could you PM me with what the price will be on those? Thanks
Now I am back in town I can get this going again... Twisted, I will get you a price on the WR's Beeloo, I added you to the list Scoobytodd, I can get new steel wheels, Just PM me with the car info Techy101, you are also added to the list, I will PM you with the price
So they are unable to get 2's anylonger? It wouldnt be an issue if the 4's came in all the same sizes but they dont. If you have time to see whats avalible. 225.50.18 (the 2's had a 235.50) and the 4's only come in a 40 series. Thanks, Dan
Dan, those sizes are unaviable, the closed one would be a 235/50R18 at $230 each and that would be the WR
Mike, sorry about the confusion... what I meant is... I just want 2 tires in 225/45/17 in the WR's V rated, not 2 sets of WR's. + the set of RSi.
