Hey everyone, I tinted an optometrists car the other day and he is a big advocate for darker films. Said he's got no problem handing out prescriptions for tint as long as you let him do an eye exam on you (~$40). I've already had a few customers come back with prescriptions and they said he's a really cool guy. So if you want to legally have dark windows, PM me and i'll send you his info,

    THanks!

    ~EDIT~
This info will not be given out via this forum... Your best bet is to come to one of our local meets and talk directly to one of the members who has the MD's info.

Interesting. I was gonna ask my optometrist this coming week about getting one and wasn't sure if he'd do it or not, but I'm going to give your doc a call and see if he accepts my insurance.

Rob- this sounds very convenient. How does the Rx work? Is it something you have to carry with you for any car you drive that has less than 50% light transmittance? Is it hand written or does it go into some sort of database, like eye Rx for driving?

I got my tint prescription earlier this year at a place in Savage/Prior Lake during a routine eye exam. My prescription is a small piece of paper that looks just like any MD drug prescription. I made copies and put one in the glove box of each car. Minnesota law requires your tint prescription to be updated every 2 years. I've never been pulled over for dark tint to know how the officer would react to the prescription (35% tint in 3 cars). Just trying to follow the rules.

I have the same thing as lawn master but mine was typed on legal paper. I've been pulled over once but he was kinda rude so I let him test my windows give me the speech and then I whiped it out BOOYA no ticket.

Haha, the only down side is that you will still get pulled over..too bad there's no way to display your prescription on the outside of the vehicle.

Dan, its just something the doctor will write on his prescription pad, for example "20% Tint".

It's best to get it a little darker than you plan on going, just to be safe. So if you wanted 30%, have him write you one for 25%.

I went a few Tuesdays ago... This dude is legit. He noticed that my contacts, which I have been having issues with and already returned once, did not fit right. I didn't even say anything to him and he noticed within a few seconds of looking at my eyes. I had actually went back to my old (because this guy is getting all of my future business) Dr. like 3 times trying to fix the problem. Little did I know that they were just brand pushing on me instead of trying to find something to fit my eye. My 1st time back I even questioned the fit of my new contacts and asked if my issues could be fitment issues... i was told it could be something with my brain.... which is messed up, but not the cause of my contact issues. So needless to say I returned all of my unopened boxes and have a new appt setup for a Tuesday in the future so I can get some better fitting contact.

Does this end up like an asian massage parlour where the elephant is in the room but it's awkward to bring up?

    POST REMOVED

^^^ Thanks for the info... may want to edit the last post and remove the doctors name. They may not want their name on the internet while it's associated with handing out prescriptions. I work in the medical field and can see this as a potential problem with their licensing.

Ok guys, the contact information WAS in the OP originally. I assume there is a reason the OP removed that information. Please don't post it in this thread.
