Was the dyno done on a mustang? or dynojet? or Dynometer? I talked to Dyno-comp and they said that mustang would be low (conservative) Dynojet be about 10-15% more and dynometer, I think that is what it is called, would be 20-25% more. So it depends where parker got it dynoed? I was @ 18.5psi with mine.
lol @ 292whp out of a VF34 and pinks Yes, lots of ignorant people in here who have only seen, what, nearly FIVE YEARS worth of developments in WRX tuning.
I have to change my vaccum line and retune to get a more consistant boost and put my headers on and see Ron again...I'm curious to see what I get now with those few tunes. Ron was estimate I would get another 15-20awhp after retuning my boost and installing my headers. so if I can show 280-290awhp...Doc has a point. But we will see...I will post my current dyno soon, when I get the chance. If I go dyno my car again anybody would be interested is welcome to come down with me, if they like. Just PM me
Go on any reputable national board with experienced tuners and tell them you made 292whp on a properly calibrated Mustang dyno with VF34, STI pinks, and pump gas. See if you don't get laughed out of the room. More likely, one of the following is going on: 1. This person has bigger injectors than you think he does or has bumped up FPR significantly 2. Nitrous 3. Very incorrect vehicle weight or some other calibration factor Any experienced tuner will tell you that 550cc cannot provide enough fuel to get you that power level on pump gas with that turbo on said dyno.
Why can't 550cc fuel injectors support that much on a WRX? Is the base fuel pressure really low? 550cc fuel injectors would have no trouble supporting that power on other AWD 4 cylinder car even on a Mustang dyno. Is there some sort of IPW limitation in the ECU?
Nope, the base fuel pressure is 43psi and it is 1:1 once boost comes on. Like I said before, the sti's with 20g's are only running 300-310 on pump gas, there is now way a vf34 on pump is going to do it (doesn't even matter what kinda of injectors). The only way ron's dyno is going to crank out 292 on 18psi. You will need to crack 20+psi on some race gas to get that kinda of power (for a safe tune). Now don't get me wrong, if you want to tune at 12:1 and 18psi, you might get close to that, but at that point in time you are driving a grenade. Search for the dyno graphs from the last dyno day. Russ
ask...and you shall recieve. heres illicitwerx's 290whp run, I dont have his 292whp dyno. VF 34, pinks, FMIC, 3" exhuast, utec, intake, gt spec header, thats all i can think of for power adders
I don't know why you guys are picking him apart so much. My wagon back in 2002 made the same power 285awhp on 93 octane. He has the exact same set up as I did PLUS a header. With 100 octane I made 320 with a fairly concervative tune. Dan at godspeed said that if we wanted to push it we could have had 350. but being we drove the car to shows we wanted a more conservative tune. Car ran 12.6 @108 all day every day. and I'm not even a good driver. Our knowlege and the general knowlege of the industry should, over time, be able to squeeze more and more power out of the same set ups. Mind you back in 2002 there was not alot of history of tuning WRX's in the US. I don't see why everyone is doggin him for letting you know his numbers, or even posting up his sheet. Why does it seem that(on forums in general): a) because your car didn't make the same power as mine, he must be lying. b) because his graph doesn't look like mine, he must be lying. c) because "I" want to have that much power, he must be lying. We set this car up at the shop just like ours. It does not suprise me that he made that power, or when the power comes on. I guess I maybe don't know what I am talking about tho. We only work on 5-6 subies a week.
omg  he drove down from fargo to the cties to get it dynoed. I was with him when he got has at holiday. guess the chart enlightned some people...........
ooops guess I am gonna cry now cause people cant get along... well all I know is I have a potent pecker and a third kid on the way... but no pics to prove it.. sorry fellas....
I guess i must be wrong because im a scooby newbie..... Its not like I have proof or witness's or anything....
Hey.. I was there for the dyno.. He filled up in Kato w/ 93 Octane, since he couldn't use 'Race Gas' to tune at RS, he wanted the highest oct. possible, and that was 93.. I have 2pics/and even a couple dyno pulls if you want me to post them, they are saved on my computer.. But these are legit.... And I know even that night we were @ firestone and mentioned what it dyno'd and ppl were suprised; but not calling BS!
hey, he's got the plot to prove it. congrats. i'm suprised by the power and the spool. illicit your only about 20flbs shy of my 20g'd sti w/tmic and stock headers at 3650rpm. any you are pulling almost the same up top. what were your afr's?
Of course, the weight of the car is only 3030 (which is on the lite side). IIRC for our dyno day, everyone was around the 3300 mark. Russ
3440 I think is what we had it at.... Im gonna go back and dyno at 3000lbs and make like 600 whp
Just have everyone set it to 3085lbs. and go redyno it. Make it the same across the board. As long as you don't weight 500lbs yourself, I'm sure it won't affect the dyno results as much. illicit...Thanks for giving me greater hopes for my Rex... Of course that weight is for WRX only, not STI
How much does it cost to have your car dyno'd? I'd like to dyno mine just to see how my performance gains go. So I know what mods helped the most.
50-60/ for two pulls during a dyno day. his numbers are because of the light weight ron put in the machine. it makes a HUGE difference. if you had a normal weight you not reach those numbers. thats why everyone was calling bs here, there just isnt anyway to pull those numbers with your setup. all of you that are shooting to go with this same setup should NOT expect these results because they are skewed.
2900 lb$ yeah and my vf54 blows 54 psi  you did all those lightweight mods like RS hood and stuff? oh wait THAT MAKES IT HEAVIER :!:
He weighed it on a grain scale for gods sake, quit rippin on the guy with replys like these who want to be apart of the club. peace kip
wow.... Its not like I can weigh my car because I have a scale that we use to weigh trucks with or anything.... And its not like it has to be accurate.... We only own an elevator and process multiple trucks daily.... And its not like the scale has to be checked every month to make sure that it is with in a 20-30lb error margin.... So the scale must be full of **** right? And if you cant read, I said about 2900lbs. I dont quite remember were around the 2900 mark it weighed out at, because i weighed it over 6 months ago... *EDIT* I just remebered it was around the 2990 area, tank on empty, without me in the car....
If you guys read the dyno-chart that doc_spoolin (Kip) posted.. it would read that the weight was listed as 3080 lbs. Now; I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that the weight is pre-programmed in to dyno by listing of cars, so everyone's weight should be consistent.. (Could be wrong, maybe it can be changed..) Anyways; maybe some other ppl can post dyno-charts from RS if they had similar set-ups... See what the weight was that was posted.. Just a thought.
What is the reason for the Hate. You guys are picking him apart. For what? It's not like there is money on the line for a race and he is cheating to win. This isn't Pink's. The forums should be used for knowledge and for the scene to grow. I know myself, parker, and lots of other guys from the Valley do frequent the MPLS area. I have turned a lot of my customers on to this site. But with the reactions from some of you I would imagine that they will get the wrong impression about the scene in the MPLS area. Wouldn't you like to make the meets at Firestone/University/Rock Falls to be larger? Maybe learn something you didn't know from someone who had first hand experience, (I am talking generally) instead of spouting knowledge they read on the internet. Who cares what the #'s are. Maybe the "air" was right that day. Maybe god likes Parker. Who cares? This all seems right to me. I made very close to the same power, with moslty the same mods. AND With my car stripped out and without my 300lb body in it, it weighed in at 3010. Of course there is a margin of error in the scale. Maybe it's high or low. But again who cares? I sure hope you guys can learn from each other an not pick each other apart. When I started my tuner shop 11 years ago (I am 33 years old) the one thing I loved about it was everyone seemed to help each other and congratulate each other on their accomplishments. This was before the internet was such a huge part of it. Now it seems that if someone spells a word wrong, or has a story that isn't the same as yours, they are chastised for it. I don't know why the number is such a huge deal. The last Sti we sent out to Godspeed to get tuned with a 20G made 410 Whp. So what. He ran in the high 11’s who cares. Maybe he should be faster than that. Maybe the dyno lied, maybe the timing equiptment at the track made a mistake. Maybe his car sucks, But everyone around here praised him for it. His car rips. Fastest Subaru in ND. He is having fun, we are having fun. Everyone is happy. I think everyone needs to settle down a little, If you have a serious question, because of doubt, then ask it. No need to make a scene. But the worst thing you can do is automatically jump on someone when they are giving you information that they believe to be true. You don't make many friends that way. the worst thing is doing it when you have no idea the mentallity of the person you are picking on and they live close enough to you to possibly run into you one day. Parker is a big pusy cat so you guys don't have to worry. But what if he wasn't? I did not spend the last 40 minutes typing this (I suck at typing) so you guys could show me how big your E-Penis is. I just wanted to give you some insight on how this could come across to other members of your community. I am more active on this forum because when I come to the Cities this summer I would like to meet up with you guys more. Also when we start having Events out of our MPLS location you guys might feel more welcome to attend. Sorry for the rant, but I have watched enough of this and wanted to say something before it gets ugly. Maybe they call me Dad for a reason. And Parker, stop fueling the fire.
Im just trying to state the facts here. He entered the weight of his car in at 3080, thats the curb weight of a WRX hence the higher number of other members who have the same or similar mods, thats all. And trying to compare dyno's is like trying to compare apples to oranges....
