im looking at getting 18x8.5 wheels with 235/40/18 tires and was wondering if i would have any issues with rubbing. Im currently on some RCE yellows and tokico dspecs. This is also for an 04 sti if it matters.

I have 245/40/18 tires on my 18 x 8.5 wheels on my 04 sti. Only issue was that i had to roll the rear fenders to prevent rubbing. Hope this helps

Other than size, you also need to compare the offset with your new and old sets of wheels.

GO MOAR RUBBER. 235s are weak on a 8.5" rim. You could go 255/35s on there pretty easily (tire-wise, not sure about fitment tho) Why have wide wheels if you only want a little rubber on them?
