I understand where you are coming from, Eli. About 5 years ago I had a choice. I could have boughten a WRX. Then I ran the numbers on the insurance, the interest, etc. I decided it was in my best interest to keep and mod my old car. I pay $375 a year in liability to insure my car. I was quoted about $1600 a year fora WRX at the time.

Just think. Cut your insurance down to a 1/4. No car payment. No attention. You can get an older Legacy or Impreza for cheap, and mod it as you get the cash to do it. Don't get me wrong, I do have a payment for my car, actually for my tranny, lol, but it pales in comparison to a new car and the associated insurance. Plus, my payment actually saves me time and money in the end. Ask Fuji...

Eli: While me and Mr. Bullwinkle were out tuning last night he told me about this. :emo: I totally understand. You and I talked about this too. Though I hate to see it go, I support your being financially smart.

So, let's move onto what's your next ride..

^^this. Think about, Low if any payments, cheap insurance, and still fun in the winter! Dude, when I had my civic I would take Erin's 2.5rs out in the snow and it provided tons of fun.

Another option if you are interested, I have a friend selling a 2002 infinity g20 with 108k miles. Automatic (sux), but he's selling it because he got a job in AZ that will give him a company car. So you know how to get a hold of me if you are interested in that one. I'll try to get you a price here soon.

Best of luck on the sale.

    -Ryan

Over the last seven years that I have been buying parts for my car, I'm still WAY ahead of buying a new car seven years ago. Consider the insurance and interest. Plus the fact that I would have had to pretty much do all the same stuff to a WRX for it to be in a state I approve of.

cheap car + bunch of parts << new car + bunch of parts

Congrats for someone realizing they're in over their head! Instead some people keep wracking up the bills, and then file bankruptcy, and run away from it all. It sucks to have to sell something you love, but there is always a good lesson learned, and a large step to the future.

You, sir, are the last person to talk about making sense.

And older cars usually get worse mileage, but make savings elsewhere.

I don't know how this is suppose to help sell your car any faster, but perhaps it might be a good idea to start a new thread for this sort of thing.

And I guess if we are going to go thru this we better start making some rules and ironing out the details.

I guess it all depends what you're offering, what if you don't win. LOL
And no offense my friend but I'm a size 30 and these seats are already tight on my bottom.

Its always nice to have a little friendly competition every now and than. There is much knowledge to gain from these types of experiences especially when you have some highly experienced AutoCrosser's to go up against.

Since I am the least experienced I am going to start a new thread to get some pointers and get some details sorted out.
