I would love to be down, but 50 yards isn't much of a challenge for my rifle. I'm sighted in at 150 yds. :(

Anywhere around here that's any farther?

IIRC I have a bunch of .45 and 9mm around. My dad and his friend went in on a sweet reloading machine. Reloading is so much cheaper than buying new. especially when it comes to pistol rounds.

I would be up for meeting on these days also, since i get out of class early these days.

Next time I go on a reloading rampage I'll keep you in mind. I'm always willing to help out a fellow shooting enthusiast. Once it warms up a bit I'm going to build a 300 yard rifle range on my parents land in Finlayson. Maybe I will put together a fun shoot for a small group up there some time this spring. We shoot clays and have a 75 yard range we set up for now. The nice thing is we can shoot rain or shine from just inside the pole barn.

Ah, gotcha. Just meet up with us in the morning. You can rent guns there at the range, see the site link I posted to get costs, etc. You can also buy ammo there if you need to. If you're bringing guns, make sure they're cased and unloaded. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I know, they do a decent job of cleaning them but I just can't bring myself to spend the money on Peltors, especially when I get to use them for free when I shoot at the PD range.

if only you guys were doing this tomorrow I would be in.

I've got a Kimber .45 Ultra carry I've been wanting to put a few more rounds through.

I guess when I get back on my pre-deployment leave we can set one of these up!

Wow. That 1911 might be worth some money, it'd be worth getting that checked out. Especially if it's one of the older Series 70 Colts or a WWII GI model.

Brian, the kimber is locked up in storage right now in my father's pistol safe as I'm out in under 2 days.

Its a great gun. I've gotten crap from guys about how bad the muzzle jump must be, but the first time they shoot it, their jaws drop. Its so smooth its unbelievable.

Even a big heavy barrel .45 wont put rounds down range nearly like the kimber will. It fits in a shoulder holster VERY well too.

Bumpity. Just a reminder that we're doing this next week. I checked at Bills, you'll have to use their ammo if you're going to shoot one of their guns. Otherwise I'm sure we'll have a pretty good selection of guns to choose, just chip in on ammo costs. Anyone else want in?

Damnit. I would be so game for this (Knowing it's a few blocks from my house) but I've already set that date aside for the Finngins Pub Crawl (My wife works for them). Depending on what time I might be able to show up for a few rounds. I'll keep checking back.

In response to your question, yes, add Steph to the list. For now. Any idea what they charge for 9mm ammunition and rental of an MP5? If the price is right, I'd be down.

Also, I'm assuming this is a mostly handgun style range? I'll have to raid my father-in-law's massive handgun collection. If I get it cleaned up in time I might bring out the 90 yr old US Model 1917.

NVM, found out myself on that one.

    MG rental = 60.00
must use provided amunition, which means for the MP5 they will likely use Luger 9mm parabellum which is 266 or so for a box of 250. Which is about what I'd want to pass through the thing. 330 bucks is a bit more than I want to spend for entertainment. I'll borrow someone's gun if that's cool. Probably pass a few rounds of 9mm or .45 and pay my way on that. If that's cool.

I'm just guessing that they'd probably use something expensive to shoot through their own guns. And since they require you use their provided ammo, I'm sure they make you use something expensive.

I called Bills this morning to find out what they charge for their 9mm, they're at 14.00 a box for 50 rnds of 9mm. It's a bit expensive, but not nearly as bad as 266 for 250 rounds.

I am still down. Should we meet somewhere kind of central and head down there? I have no clue where it is. I am already pumped to be going. I have 3 boxes of .45 sitting on my desk right now :)

I stopped by the in-laws this afternoon and my father-in-law lent me 3 of his large amount of handguns. I was going to grab the 9mm, but I didn't want to be too pushy. So put on your cowboy hat's cuz i'm bringing the single actions. 2 x .45 and a .22. yeeeehaw!

So what time is this going down? I have stuff going on in the afternoon (2pm) so the earlier the better for me.

The plan is to meet at Bills at 9am so we can get there when the range opens up. That should help ensure that we get a few firing points and it should be fairly slow that early. I figured we'd do some sort of lunch/brunch get together after we're done punching holes. I'll bring my .45 and my .22 and my 12ga, so if anyone wants to do some shooting with those they're more than welcome to. Bills has a good selection too if we want to rent something.

Here is the website for Bills:

will they have a rocket launcher for me to shoot from?

BTW, one guy told me that he went somewhere in south america and was given an RPG to shoot at a cow, for a bargain price. Sounds like fun to me;):eek3:

Who makes the M14? I have been thinking about getting one of these for long range target shooting. I have never seen/shot one before though. I am very interested in your opinion of it.

Springfield Armory has a few different versions of the M14 that really kick some tail, ranging from a CQB version with a quad rail setup to the White Feather model (Carlos Hathcock model sniper rifle). They refer to it as the M1A, but it's really a licensed M14. Springfield makes great stuff. When we go to Bills I will take you upstairs, they have a White Feather model on display that is incredible. I'd love a Socom II with a nice Trijicon sight on it, although even their Match or Loaded version would be a bunch of fun too.

    http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php

I really, really hope you're kidding about that sounding like fun.
