I was thinking about that dragons breath stuff. that is a MEAN round to use. it would pretty much melt through a person, since you are essentially spraying them with burning magnesium or phosporus flakes.

    Seriously, she was probably photo-op'd.
"hey, you, yeah we know the standoff is over, but do you think you could get that big rifle thing out of the back of that cop car and stand there looking like you are in a standoff?"

"Sure, let me see here, this is the bullets thing, I am pretty sure I've seen it go here..." (puts mag in backwards)
    "There we go!"

"Now, hold it up all determined like..."

"You mean like this?" (puts elbow in completely unnatural position for shooting a rifle)

"Yes, just like that, now look mad as hell and we'll get the pic"

The only thing I can think of is if they've got their mags clipped together. IIRC you can't even get the mag in backwards on one of those. Of course, if it's for real then I think the training officer needs to be fired and she'll never live that one down.

I googled said event, and found 3 forums discussing the picture. All came to the conclusion that she had two clips taped together, and the one facing us is upside down. So the chamber feed is on the bottom of the clip.

This thing is hilarious. Its the smallest semi-auto I've ever seen. 1" barrel = hard to hit a target over 10 feet. haha

Pretty much just an intimidation weapon.

The semi-autos have alot more kick to them then the 6 shooters. next time you will need to try Brian's Kimber .45. I would say it had 2x or 2.5x the kick of Ryan's revolvers. I have no clue why the 6 shooters were using a larger bullet/more powder. must be a design thing.

    +1 this sums up kimber.

It is two 30rd mags, one flipped over and attached to the side of the first. This allows for a quick reload by flipping the mag over when empty. I prefer the double mag setup that places them next to each other. Keeps the rounds out of the dirt, and makes for quicker changes.

On another note, is there a range in the cities that I can fire on 100yrd targets? I need to dope in new optics on the ol'lever gun.

Bills robinsdale is 20yds, circle pines is 50yds. I recall Evan saying something about DMPS having a 1000yd range in st. cloud.

I think you can do some math and sight in on a 50yd. I did this on my black powder rifle. sighted it into shoot 1" high (or something like that) at 50yds. so it would be spot on at 100yds.

The only range I know of that is 100yds or over is Moon Valley in Eden Prairie. They have up to 150yds, but all is outdoors.

Also, anyone have experience in stock making? I want to sporterize my 1939 K98, and prep it for deer season :D

Those revolvers were using a .45 Colt round, also known as a Long Colt by some. It's a completely different animal. Most loads are somewhere between 200-255 gr bullet weight, with around a 700-750 fps velocity. Modern factory loads can bring it up to around 850 fps, which makes it equivalent to a .45ACP round which is the round that replaced the .45 Colt. My Kimber TLE II (and most other modern .45 pistols, save for the .45GAP Glocks) uses the .45ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) round. .45ACP can range anywhere from 165-260 grains, with a velocity of anywhere between 800-1200 fps depending on the bullet weight and powder load. Standard load is a 230gr FMJ, which is what the 1911 was designed around.

Run away from the p22. My dad works the gun counter at Sportsmans Warehouse and he said they are being returned all the time. Extremly unreliable.

Hmm... I will have to rethink this. I have heard it was a fun little gun for plinking. I wonder what kind of reliability issues they have? is it mainly feeding/ejecting? I did some reading on one of the rimfire boards and people are say to go in with a dremel and refinish the chamber. apparently they dont do a good job on them when the leave the factory so smoothing out the rough edges on the loading ramp and other areas fixes many load/eject problems.

The way I look at it - if you're having to "fix" a brand new gun, what other problems will develop down the road?

just remember price doesn't mean much. My favorite shotgun is my trusty old New England Firearms single shot 12ga.... $65.99 in the early '91.

On this note. What is the law for transporting firearms within the state of MN, and requirements for bringing in firearms? I am moving my car in early may from CA, and bringing my 30-30, K98, SS .22, and SS 12ga.

That is exactly the problem. I would suggest the Browning Buckmark or the Ruger MK1 or MK2 if your looking for a reliable .22 auto. They are both very close in price to the P22 and miles better in quality.
BTW if anyone is looking to buy a gun head out to Sportsmans Warehouse in Woodbury and ask for Dave . He will point you in the right direction.
