I want to get some P21S and claybar/seal/wax the Legacy. Where in the metro area can I find some P21S? How about recommendations for other good waxes and some places to find them. The closer to Plymouth, the better, but I'm pretty free to drive aboot the city so if the best place is the HD dealership out on I-94 in Stillwater or somewhere in SE Metro, I can get there. Thanks. -Greg P.S. I already have clay and Sealant (Klasse Kit).
I dont know about locally, but I always get my stuff from here: http://www.bettercarcare.com/p21-127.html super fast delivery and lots of free stuff... I also use p21s or sometimes this stuff: http://bettercarcare.com/ult-1012-100.html over the klasse twins
anything wizards its excellent, i reccomend ultra paint seal, it smells fantastic and does an obsurdly good job of protecting! (used to be a detailer) any sort of tech wax now days is very good too. carquest in wayzata has tons of wizards products.
Zymol is ok. Smells good. I wouldn't recommend the commercial grade cleaner wax to the op tho. Especially if the op let's the klasse sg set up over night... Big waste of time. You'd want to go with a pure carnauba wax or a synthetic that won't strip off the sg. Curly, want a free almost full bottle of zymol cleaner wax?
I've got Klasse AIO and Sealant Glaze. I'm not a big fan of Zymol and am looking for either a good tech wax or pure caranuba. I've never been a fan of cleaner wax. I'm off to car quest to look at that wizards stuff and find what I can for some Scotty's Tranny Cocktail. Next week kicks off my car detailing/maintenance bonanza.
+1 on the carnauba stuff. Wroks good even with thin coats. Wizards is good only with thick coats. I use the carnauba and Zano. Go get your car buffed and then buy a nice wax like the two listed above. You should get your car buffed first.
Car Quest owned me. I looked at the directions before I left. 45 minutes later I returned home without anything. I couldn't find that place for the life of me. Today I went over to AutoZone and got some Meguiars Tech wax and a big bottle of detailing spray. Claying will commence tomorrow am. The tech Wax looks very nice on my wife's car.
How long does you guy's WAX last? My wax last me about 1.5-2 weeks until it gets dusty again. but my garauge is like a cave inside though.
One coat lasts me about the same as you. However, two coats lasts a LOT longer. If you use detailing spray it lasts a bit longer.
The synthetic I linked to lasts about a month or 2 of daily driving before it stops beading up water like it should. P21s over 2-3 costs of klasse sg only lasts me about 2-3 weeks before it starts steaking but it looks so much better on black that I feel like its worth it...
P21S = S100 (and the S100 is a lot cheaper!) I think I paid ~$15 for my last jar this spring, should last a couple of years, too. It doesn't have the best lifetime, but it has the best look. It is more of a "showcar" wax in that it will not last as long as some others, but looks better....
The life of the wax isnt over once you r car gets dusty. with a nice coat of wax it should almost last 2 months. A nice handwash will make it shine once again once it gets dusty.
I've used Mothers for some time now. I doubt it's the best out there, but it's what I've had and used. I use their 3 step process: cleaner, glaze, wax, and it turns out well. I'll usually throw on a second coat of glaze + wax shortly after the first time, say the next weekend. This just gives a little deeper shine and helps make it last longer. I can get away with about half a year doing this. The only downside I've seen with the Mothers is the wax is pretty soft. You can get white streaks scratched into it pretty easily. Something like Turtle Wax seems to provide a harder coating that isn't as prone to marking and probably offers a bit better longevity. Sadly, in the 2 years I've owned my Forester, I've waxed it once... I used to do it on my older cars more religiously, but I've gotten lazy. Heck, the car hardly see's two car washes in a year, let alone waxings.
meguires NTX wax is THE ****, by far the best wax I've used and I run a small detailing shop out of my garage and do work on friends' cars and they all agree its some awesome stuff.
Spring time bump. I'm just waiting for the first nice weekend that i'm actually in town to clay bar my poor car and throw on some wax. Much like back Road runner I also used to use meguires 3 step process. Well, those bottles are startin to get old so I'm looking to move to something else. Last fall I through on a coat of Zymol. Gotta admit, I was not impressed. So now I'm back in the market for something new. I might have to give this tech wax a try.
For winter I use Einszett's stuff. Two coats held up to automated car washes for 3 months (quite impressive). Easy to use. Look is "okay" but its mostly for protection. In the summer I use 1grand's blitz wax. Bit harder to use (paste wax), but looks great. Cheaper than P21s for the same performance.
where does one get these waxes that everyone talks about. That website that was posted no longer works.
snappy shine by car brite is what the detailers use at lexus of wayzata. i want some so bad but its soo hard to find.
