well actually about 2 weeks ago...and they put 9 quarts of oil in my car...yea 9 quarts!! anndd they have had my car for about 2 weeks now trying to fix it and im getting kinda angry cause i dont have a car still!!
well...hahaha they put in 9 instead of the recommened amount...so it was just all there stupidity! haha
I know someone that this happened to at another precision tune, his pathfinder never ran right again, and leaked oil like a sieve. Good luck, and change your own oil, it'll save you money and your car.
hmm...I'd only take that engine back if they agreed to have a subaru certified technican inspect it..thoroughly
haha actually i usually would go to valvoline to get it changed cause there is a cute girl, and she gives me a discount...but didnt feel like going wayy out of the way to do that so i just settled this time haha. and this girl knows her stuff big time!
lol already took her out...and it was a friendship connection. at lest i know she wont put 9 quarts of oil in my car
It still only takes one careless employee to leave you completely f'd. Along with the ruined pathfinder, I know a guy who went to a valvoline with his evo, and the ripped out the oil level sending unit, and some how caused another leak, causing his engine to fail within about 500 miles. His car had some mods and that was pretty all it took for their lawers to say f-you, not our fault. So, youre allready doing ok, but Scuba's right, get that bugger inspected before you even accept it back.
well they havent fixed it yet..and im thinking about having them send it to the burnsville surbaru and make them pay for everything.
Just so you guys kinda be aware of, a friend of mine needed a oil change for his Nissan 350Z, he bought the oils but didn't have tools to do the oil change so he took it to a shop to have it done. Few moments later he saw the guy hiding his "expensive" oils and getting some cheapo oils for his oil change. My buddy caught him red handed. That machanic was speachless and went to the maneger. My buddy got a FREE oil change addictional. Just be aware, crap could happen.
I bet they drained your trans and added oil....check your trans fluid, WHO DID THIS!?!?!? (actually its not that uncommon, lots of aftermarket shops are retarded)
we had a tribeca drive from texas with NO fluid in the front diff and 14 qts of oil in the motor (they take 7) it got a new trans, the motor survived.
+100 -- I'm as far from a "car guy" as you can get but I still attempt most of my own work, despite being scared to death half the time that I'll destroy my car accidentally, because of the insane horribleness of nearly every shop I've ever taken a vehicle too.
Wow...9 quarts. Oddly, I would have thought an engine wouldn't hold that much, lol; it would just start coming out the dipstick.:eek3: Maybe it did and the guy thought that was "full." Yeah, there's nothing better than doing your own work. I'm pretty much limited by the tools I have. The only things I haven't done is anything involved with removing and tearing appart the engine or tranny.
So how did you, or they know, that 9 quarts was put in? Did you get the car back and checked the level, or did they say something like, we ****ed up?
I used to be a Honda tech.. and whenever I overfilled accidently, I just raise the car and drain some out. They probably didnt check the level afterwards. YOU should be cautious. I worked at a shop before and know how things work. You should call everyday or show up everyday to see the progress. You have to get on them about it and theyll work on it. You should go up there and check up on your car. Be an A$$ hole and find out the truth. AND, you shouldnt have left your car with them after they messed it up...
yea i brought it back and they drained all the oil and checked the level of it all..all i know is my car better be a hell of a lot better than it was before!
dont forget that damage could have been done to the exhaust system..... ie cats (if you still have em) 02 sensors....
Thanks now I'll never go there. My buddie got his serp belt replaced there and he had to get it redone cus they're obviously incompetent.
this is why, honestly, you do it yourself. you get to know your own car better, and you don't have the risk of complete morons working on your car and ruining it.
everyone learns somehow. i have never really trusted anyone else with any of my cars, i have seen dealerships (not subaru) f-up the cars something fierce, and dont even get me started on shops.
see last post, subaru techs seem to be some of the only intelligent ones around, and they are damn good at what they do.
