Driving to bir yesterday, I every thing was fine, the car felt amazing, when... I pulled over for gas in baxter checked my oil, level was perfect. (hard to tell on our stupid dipsticks) I start going again up HWY371 and I get up to 65 mph and I let off the gas and I hear a sound comming from the pass. side of the engine bay, right from the turbo, I think my downpipe cracked or I crack my o2 bung on the bellmouth... the car only makes this noise under accelleration and at on start up. I frustrated....:roll::roll:
sounds like an exhaust leak wistling througha multi layer exaust gasket???? Maybe had a bolt rubbing on a exhaust housing cause I stupid and used the wrong length bolt????? I have to take the dp off tonight so I can see if the dp is craked.... I wrapped the piss out of the pipe, the exhaust housing, and the up pipe so I can't see if it is cracked...
could be a crack or a leak... maybe if you did all the deletes and a K&N and stuff thats what you are hearing?
leak part... pretty sure... other stuff, not so much. I've been riding around like this for 2 weeks now.... and this sound is new as of yester day... I think I may order a down pipe tomorrow we'll see what I find tonight.:emo::emo:
took the down pipe off, the turbo seems fine, down pip has no cracks, did notice sone carbon across the gasket face, looks like I did have a small exhaust leak. now, I have got a adjustable turbosmart dual port bov, I beleave it may have been adjusted past the "STOP!!! DON'T ADJUST PAST THIS HERE OR YOU MIGHT BLOW STUFF UP" line.... (i feel like such a bone head) I'm going to go back and check for boost leaks tonight... do you think I can reuse my gasket to put the down pipe back on with? I know you have thought this so I'll say it.... HEY, Putz.... put the stock bpv back on.....
Dont reuse exhaust gaskets... They have a greater chance of leaking since most of them are a crush sort of gasket.
uhhh, i have a different engine but; I noticed a hissing sound from my car not to long ago, I just have to adjust the air conditioning vent to bi level and the sound goes away. Probably not the issue but that was my first thought.
got your message....I'm so happy it was something easy. i can't remember what the size is....like 12/1.25 bolt that will fit in there
