i seen the CTR2 but i passed it up at the time. i also saw the leno car, it always seems you see the cars you want when you cant get them, i just missed out on the old GT40 race car in the original gulf colors! i was pissed
Jason, another idea for prizes is to gift parts. Maybe tires? When you go to the tuner shop, buy the item then don't install them. They end up in your items box to the left of the homescreen. Once the items are in your items box you can gift them to friends like you can with cars. btw, if I find that datsun tonight, I'm painting it chrome. I should have waited to paint the veyron chrome but flat black will have to do for now. Also, the best way for all of us to play together is to appoint a point person. Then when you see them online, under community, click on their gamertag and join their lounge. You can then join whatever race they are in.
Please don't paint it chrome, I have the red color chip for the same color that I intend on using on mine when it comes time to paint IRL.
Yeah, you can repaint things over and over if you want. All I'm saying is that that chrome paint chip could come in handy later on something you would actually want to keep.
Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WALK SO A CHILD MAY LIVE!!! THAT'S WHAT IT DOES.
I haven't play as much as I'd liked to have but with "our" races in mind I'll try to earn a few bucks and start buying a few cars too.
I has a veyron now, which is apparently a "standard" car :???: Got damn lucky though. Came in dead last on that nurburgring race. Boy I suck at driving in traffic!
Just under 40k Got the flickr uploader working from the PS3.... Eiger Nordwand G Trail by Numbchux, on Flickr
I really REALLY wish they'd let us put aftermarket wheels on the standard cars. Paint it pearl red and put 8 spokes on it and it'd be perfection. Good score man. I'll have to watch the used car lot.
anybody figure out the spec b driver stuff?? i have just noticed when i went tot he expert races my racers strength is going down FAST and the arrow in the corner, anyone figure what that means yet?
I remember when Gran Turismo races were pretty evenly pitted with regards to the AI competitors and what cars they drove. I absolutely love that I bought the only American Muscle car in the used inventory, a Camaro SS 69 model, and the only way I can compete in the Amateur Muscle Car race is to upgrade the transmission to the race-customizable one so that this piece of dog**** can do more than 115mph because the 3 Mustang GT500s that keep showing up can easily go 140+ keep stomping my ass on the giant straight away on the track they chose for this race. There is nothing more inspiring than sinking 70k into a car to win a 12,000 dollar pot. How do they expect you to complete this game without taking out a loan?
Yeah, if they wanted to go for actual realism, they should have you have to do mundane tasks for 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, for a set amount of cash...then strip 90% of that money for bills, taxes and living expenses. The remaining 10%, you then spend in a mini-game. In the mini-game you have to find ways to hide that money from your significant other till you can collect enough to purchase the upgrades/cars you want. All of this would happen in real time of course, and the amount you earn is based on your actual education level. You can do things like "suck your way up the corporate ladder" or "sell your ass on University Ave." to get extra money, but there is a 25% chance your driver character will get AIDS or syphilis of the ass and die. Also, you can die in game during races if you hit a wall too hard. And if your significant other finds out you've been hoarding cash, she will cut off/mutilate your respective gender's genitals, causing you to drive at 75% of your potential for the next 10 races till you recover. At which point, you will be automatically provided with a new significant other (for continuity of course). After you get the hang of all that, you then spend the remainder of the next 40-60 game years pondering what it would be like to actually own the Ferrari you need to race in later events while you deal with the financial turmoil you've put yourself in by buying a bunch of ****ing Toyota Vitz's on loan to race in dumbass races you didn't actually give ten ****s about in the first place.
Lol that's about it! It's a pretty good balance between a racing sim and arcade but there are just too many gimmicks in this one. Although I will retract my previous statement about bspec now that I won the f40.
Dude, a big hale and hearty "**** you" on that F40 comment. I wish I had all goddamned day to race GT5 races to get an F40
its bspec. Leave it running and check on it every half hour or whenever. They give you a zonda right after the f40
I purchased this one today for the old skool japanese race. Dominated. It was like 38k on the used car lot.
Dammit. Seriously, I've checked it like 30 times today. After each race. And it never shows up. I hate all of you.
You can have mine. Only reason I bought it is I know you wanted it. I'd be doing the same thing if there was an XT6..... I'm running out of patience for the b-spec races. a LOT more babysitting required than the GT4 b-spec. ugh Also, I'm starting to get frustrated with my inconsistency. 700+ hp cars make little mistakes into great big ones.
how do I get the older cars for alot of the races? I cant find them. Do I have to wait till there in the used car lot?
I'll pm you so I don't spoil it for someone reading the thread... although I'm sure there's a prize list out there somewhere by now. Unfortunately, yes. You win some of them and others you have to buy. I suppose this will level the online playing field since you'd have to grind for 2 days straight to buy a race car off the used market... plus you'd still have to be level 23 or so meaning you couldn't just do the same entry level race 500 times in a row. Like I posted earlier, 6 new cars are added to the top of the used car list for every race that you do. I'm in the habit of checking after every 5th race (since the lot only holds 30 cars). It took me 2 days to get a truck and I finally saw the ctr and ctr2 yesterday. Bought them both. edit: new about future updates/expansion packs (maybe) http://kotaku.com/5703008/the-future-of-gran-turismo-5
Nothing says happy fun times like trying to win a speedway race in a used stock Dodge 1500 Laramie. That was a good one for honing my cheap-bastard-fu.
This is from GTPlanet today (12/1): Many may lament at the inclusion of NASCAR in GT5, HOWEVER, it is one of the easier money tricks I've found out so far when you are at mid level 21 A spec. Firstly, do ALL of the Jeff Gordons challenges. Remember three (3) key points: *Always deactivate ABS when you are doing an oval circuit with no braking - Daytona and Indy **Always deactivate ABS and ASM when doing any other circuit. ASM causes you to understeer at all corners, fast and slow. ***Almost NEVER use first gear unless you are in a straight coming out of a sharp bend - say in Laguna Seca at the final bend. First gear has a crap load of torque and without any aids, will spin you right round in circles and into a wall. Once you are level 21, you should have won a NASCAR from finishing all of Jeff Gordons advance challenges. Extreme events should be unlocked. With your new car, immediately slap on soft slick racing tires - 36,000 is a drop in a bucket in comparison to the advantages you have on field and how much you can win. Immediately do an oil change as well. I guess I don't know the meaning of STOCK in NASCAR In Extreme events, you should see the NASCAR special. I recommend you start with the regular series first before tackling the Championship so you know how your car behaves in circuits other than ovals. It actually drives very well with ASM off and braking distance is respectable for an all out racing sports car. Its nice now as you can get rammed from cars and never get disqualified. This is now bumper car racing (sigh....) Do all of them and you've netted yourself $45,600 per event X 5 tracks = $228,000. Now do the championship the exact way you did the individual races and that should net you another $228,000. Try to get first in all races - it's pretty easy. After the championship you are awarded ANOTHER $228,000 for finishing with 500 championship points - 100 points X 5 races. So that's $228,000 X 3 = $684,000. Plus your prize car is a 1964 something. I think it will be useful for the legendary races, not quite sure. Haven't had it delivered yet. All in all this took me about 70 or so minutes to do everything. You have to highlight it to read it (it was originally posted this way as a spoiler preventer). Seventy minutes isn't exactly an easy race (my hands feel numb already) and Readymix, I don't remember what level you are currently at.
The veyron costs 500k credits to restore the chassis. I found out that if you can get a car to land on the roof you get a trophy Yeah, that happened in the F40 while I was messing around lol. Also, I'm sold on bspec now. Tons of cools cars to win. Only downside is the bspec driver sometimes wrecks the car and the repair bill can be hefty One of my driver's name is B.Gay and another is P.Head. I'm saving my last 2 slots for D.Oh, D.Ong, or L.Olson (which I accidentally skipped over).
damn it those are some awesome names! i only have p. sweet and c. white lol i have never flipped a car, how in the hell do you all do that?? and slip an f40 on the roof pretty sure your driver is dead lol
I've got two. The original "stock" Trueno, and the Fujiwara-esque panda one. (S. Shigeno Version) psst.... they both actually kinda suck!
I flipped mine on Trial Mountain. Tried cutting the last two corners... Was a little too far to the right. haha
Dear Polyphony Digital, Please explain to me in what alternate reality or fantasy realm exists a Ferarri Enzo owner that would enter his million dollar car into an all Ferarri exhibition race, and then decide at the last leg of the last lap, while in 2nd place, to use his million dollar Ferrari to stuff the driver in 1st place into a wall at 90 mph? The 1st place payout was only 36,000 dollars. That isn't going to repair the damage you just did to your Enzo. Also, apparently the Lambo Countach is considered a European Hot Hatch...have fun with that race.
