What's up everyone, long time lurker here and I figured I'd make a post introducing myself. I got my first Subaru ('03 WRX) when I was in the Military, been pretty heavy in the car scene every since. My car is currently down right now, I've got the engine and most everything needed for the swap sitting in my garage, hopefully when I get her fixed I'll be able to contribute more here. While I'm on the subject, if anyone here is local to Minneapolis and willing to let me rent an engine hoist that would be GREATLY appreciated.
Yo! welcome! Fellow bugeye mafia member here. If you're still working on the swap when all this Corona stuff blows over I'm not far away in Stillwater and can help. I'm trying to dust off the scoobie maintenance cobwebs. -Paul
I ended up buying the hoist and I managed to borrow two engine stands, got my engine out, put both the engines on stands, swapped my USDM parts to the new engine, got the new engine in yesterday but i cant get the engine mounts to go into the cross member
Did you hit it with your purse? Kidding... Won't line up front to back or side to side? Maybe the mounts on the new motor are different?
They aren't lined up how? Too far to one side or too far forward? Is the engine fully mated to the transmission? Are the mounts stock? If not, you could easily put the mounts in backwards - generally the stud is slightly offset on the mount.
Jdm ej205, got it in. Just have to hook up my down pipe and double check a few things and she should be back on the road.
