You are correct "Ohh Wise One", he is very excited to go off to Mankato. He is planning a very interesting schedule, AET program with Art, he is very good with clay. BTW if you want to come and work for free you are welcome, this way you won't get burned out This will always be a hobby for me, not sure about Derek, he just goes with the flow.
For those that don't know all the players, from L to R; Justin, Jay Luehmann (current IIRA Endurance champion in our 99 RS), myself, Mike, Melissa and Derek Wagner. This was after my blast in the L and we were discussing my impressions. Jay, Mike, Derek and I are all instructors for the BIR Performance Driving School. If you have the itch, sign up for one of the school days. We will be happy to help you become a safer, smoother, faster driver (in that order for obvious reasons). Mark Utecht
Mark U-What's your impression of how the L will do on the new short track after your run? What are your thoughts of the short steering rack on this setup?
You know my history and that it has been anything but wise, LOL!! I would enjoy working at an event or two, just not on any sort of campaign. As many will tell, I like to turn wrenches on my free time and the only kind of payment I like to accept is a stocked fridge...
I asked Derek if it had one after driving it. I liked the feel much better than stock. However, it is way too quick for inexperienced drivers or the street. IMO, it should be considered a race only piece. I think it will be very usefulon the 2.5 mile track as there are a couple corners sharper that what is found on the 3.0 mile track. Mark
Ya Justin, you should look into options for underneath the car. Much (most?) downforce on purpose-built race cars comes from the undertray.
rest assured when we say full aero, that doesn't mean just sticking a huge wing on the decklid - everything will be carefully planned out over the entire car
more power to you man, only part of that class that i cared for was my research paper that i did on automotive aerodynamics.
Awesome car and great pics! I look forward to following the Grimmspeed team. Carl, if you need any help with the CFD side of things let me know. I did alot in college and use it in my day job.
yea you and I need to get together sometime and talk some of this over. just because I like fluid flow doesn't mean I'm any good at it
I've got something like this collecting dust in the garage. Its yours if you can find a use for it or I suppose even if you just wanted to blow it up with fireworks or something that would be fine too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-0...025QQitemZ380040761476QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
nice shots carl! good pans. thats gonna keep you in tune for the drift event. i bet panning drifts will be harder than grip driving lol. i need practise. ill probably sit next to the highway and pan the traffic.
Was there a Blue c6 Z06 there owned by an older guy. I was at work today and he saw me getting out of my car and told me he was at Brainerd and there were lots of Subarus there.
Damn, Justin, nice work, eh. And all the rest of you who are involved in this, too! But I gotta say I feel like an idiot now. I am gone for a week and get home to see this great thread. Sweet. Awesome. Except the part where I stopped by Grimmspeed on Wednesday and in the course of the visit asked some dumb question or the other about the L. No wonder you were smiling so big while you politely answered. I half have a hunch you were waiting for this exact post! Well played. But seriously, congrats to all of you again. I look forward to hearing more in the future.
Funny this was one event where we did NOT have too many Subaru's, just the L. Also I don't rememder the ble Z06 at this event. We had another event the week before and we had 3-4 Subies tearing up the track.
