Because he uses his WRC car and Rallies take place on Tarmac. Granted this isn't the place to talk about his WRC career, it is a good point. As soon as you put yourself into a professional sport you will be judged so.

Are you sure that's his WRC car? I thought he had one specifically built and tuned for gymkhana.

Not 100% but that's what I've been reading. Besides if it isn't it's pretty damn close.

It looks pretty damn close from the outside. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a whole different animal under the skin.

Well it has a lot of WRC parts, Ant lag system, sequential gearbox, widened body. Same HP. I'm not a betting man but I'd be willing to bet this is his WRC car.

I am not saying Block is a better driver. Just saying that people are comparing two different things. It's stupid. If you think he sucks at driving, that's cool. It's your opinion and you can have it. However, to watch this video and say "it's not rally" .... its just a really dumb statement. Yes, we knew it wasn't rally before the video started. Welcome to the club. Thanks for the intelligent comment, way to add to the conversation.

I didn't say you did. The other guy I was talking with did, the one I responded to. I was just explaining my comments to his OP since you replied, I copied your post. The "its not rally" part was from his post. Relax there shooter.

Well I'm just glad we've got guys like these to keep us entertained who are always willing to push their limit, the laws of physics and our patiences for better material. If I could have an ounce of their talent I'd probably end up making a smuck out of myself. :p

I think the real Gymkhana car was the Subaru, the Ford is just a copy cat.

Then why did you quote phi11 if you weren't responding to him?

I was responding to him about his comment. I replied to him because he quoted me. The response included comments about the OP I commented on the first time. Feel free to read the whole thing again and slower. It may help answer your own question.

    Reported me or phill?

So, what you're saying is, if person A says "X" and you quote "X" and respond to Person A, then Person B quotes your response to Person A, you quote Person B to talk to Person A? Still not making sense. Maybe I need to go back even further.

    Person A: "X"
You: "You said 'X', here are my thoughts on 'X'"
Person B: "You said 'this' about "X" here is my thoughts on that"
You: "Person B, you just said this about my thoughts on 'X'...but I'm talking to Person A, even though I quoted you."

Yeah, I don't think reading it slower is going to change the fact that you quoted one person and talked to another without pointing out that you were talking to the other person.

It was phi11's post that got reported. Notice how I quoted his post and then said something in regards to it? Like "Look at this here, this is what I am talking about now <points to quote by phi11>, now everything I say after it is in regards to what I am pointing at." That's how quoting usually works when you click reply. Imagine now, if I had quoted phi11's post, and then started going off. Phi11 would probably think I was going off on him...since, you know, the last thing I referenced was a post that he made. I know this is probably going way over your head, but do try to keep up.

No Jason. Really, read it again. My comment is very straight forward. It replies to him and follows it with a transition.

Either way... it doesn't matter if you can or cannot follow this concept. Move along, no point in wasting breath on this subject any more.

And my point was, from phi11's perspective, it looked like you were talking specificly to him with your entire post. Since it doesn't really say "now I'm talking to another poster, not you." And then when he took it that way, as pretty much any other person would, you told him to unbunch his panties. Which was unnecessary.
Maybe my explaination wasn't clear enough. If you want, I can go back and edit my post to use bad clip-art and generic graffiti fonts if you think that'd help.

Yep. I understand how he got confused. However his d-bag comment at the end of his post prevented an "I'm sorry you took it that way" and instead gave him a taste of his own BS. Funny how that works.

It's not the M sport WRC car he runs overseas. The chassis is the same but it has an earlier 2.0l wrc based motor instead of the new 1.6l. Current spec WRC cars make nowhere near 650hp. They have intake restrictors that limit them to roughly 300-330hp.

I said anyone can burn tires, not that anyone could do this video. That would imply that everyone has the kind of cash to be a professional stunt driver for fun. I'm sure there are millions of people out there who could do what Block has done, if they had the cash or the training. This isn't rocket science. There are millions of basketball players in the world, but every time Lebron makes a basket, do we get on Facebook and talk about how awesome his three-pointer was? No. Because anyone could do it. He just happens to have the money (albeit paid for because he's talented) to do it ALL THE ****ING TIME.

The reason why I'm drawing a line from point A to point B and then to point C is because Block started his car-driving career in Rally America, and I'd rather see him spend some money highlighting the many awesome things about stage rally because I'm a fan of stage rally--a fan enough to have sponsored Carl and his team for a year. Really my argument comes from the same sentiment that describes my lack of enthusiasm for the Kardashians (as compared to my complete enthusiasm for the British comedy, "Man / Woman." This is car porn; the same money shot spewed onto the face of the waiting pavement as the video before it. It's nothing new or all that exciting. Where is the creampie website of the car-video world? That's something I'd like to see.

So my point isn't utterly lost in the analogy I made above: Block is boring, and he does nothing to raise the profile of Rally America or Americans at large in the world of professional rally driving. He's been reduced to being the Ron Jeremy of the performance driving world; a name you only remember if someone has the audacity to publish a video of him driving a Ford on a Subaru owners forum.

So... you're saying anybody can be a professional anything if they practice enough. Talent has nothing to do with it, ever. Do I have that right? I just want to make sure before I type out this response.
