If you got good penetration on your mig welds, they aren't going to fail. What wire did you use? Besides, you don't see it anyways.

As far as stepping up the ID of your pipe while using the stock exhaust manifold, it isn't the best idea to have sharp transitions like that. You get better flow and higher overall velocity by having smooth transistions and smoothing out any drop-through on your welds. Proper wrapping can go a long way as well.

Also, making your wastegate feed come off at a 45 degree angle helps your overall flow. A perpendicular feed can reduce the effectiveness of your wastegate by up to 50%.

Schedule 40? That is some ridiculously thick and heavy. Schedule 10 is plenty thick.

I used 309 wire. Yeah I was thinking the 2.45 ID is overkill lol.... I have seen a couple people rolling with the sch40 for the up pipes, P&L and Fullrace(I heard) use them now. I am still undecided on thickness... But I am going to have a nice TIG welded up polished version fabbed up, It will be alot cleaner(won't have that extra weld in the bottom of the up pipe too, I had to cut it there to change the placement by like 1.5 degrees :hsugh: OCD)... I want to show everyone the Garrett piping/intake kit I could put together for the subaru comunity for around $900-$1000(possibly), it will be no big deal at all to have one fabbed up and I have extra pipe and extra flanges...so why not ;)

309 or 309L? The "L" means leaded and it will have more flexibillity in the long run against cracking.

All I'm saying is overlook marketed thickness and look at your transitions, bends, and wastegate junction. They have way more effect on your function than the thickness of your piping. Anything over Sch 10 is overkill.

If you are honestly at the point that your up pipe is a restriction, you need to get a different exhaust manifold. A GT3076R is not that point.

Perfect, sorry tired after 6mt fight last night forgot the "L".... Ok now I see what you are getting at I will angle the wastegate up a bit on this next up pipe....I am quite happy with the bends, but I was thinking about porting out the flange on the up pipe that connects the up pipe to the exhaust manifold so it is smooth with my up pipe, I think the flange is only 2 inch.... Hey I thanks for the input piddster I appreciate, keep it coming .... I am going to go fight with the 6mt some more but I will throw some pictures up of the goodies a little later...

That is one shiny tranny. Enjoy it while it lasts, lol.

Thanks for getting me my tires. I can pick them up tomorrow:hsugh:

You're gonna have fun installing your linkage with the tranny already in the car. You'll have to unbolt the cross member and push it to the side.

You have a 6mt linkage, right?

Car is running, I am just trying to tune it, as soon as I get my maf scaled I will be ready to add boost.... 6mt is feeling good but second gear seems little loud for some reason (when de celerating)...

Maybe we will run into each other sometime here...this turbo is pretty loud spooling up, I like...I am going out to try and get my maf completley sorted up on the top end... I can say with 14psi of boost and E85 I have been impressed already....

Yeah maybe, my parents live in princeton and before i moved to minneapolis I used to see you up there quite a bit. I noticed it was you cuz of the tail lights on your car, I have the same set. After I saw them on your car I said now I have to put the stock ones on it again, lol. If I see you around I will honk or something.

Lol thats funny about the tails lol... Yeah honk for sure we will pull over and chat, I also am always around the minneapolis outskirts...crystal, bp ect so maybe I will see ya lol...

Tuning this beast is crazy the maf sucks massive amounts of air down there right behind the air filter... I worked around my 300 g/s cap on the maf scale (uped it to 400g/s) I don't think 400 is going to be enough... I am already hitting 275 g/s at like 14psi....

^Same bat time same bat channel... Yeah I had my breather lines block up on thursday I went WOT for a data log run and I left so much smoke behind me you couldn't even see through it... For about 100 ft LOL, I think the blockage stopped the turbo from draining oil and boom smoke on the track...lol So as you can see I am letting it breathe now... I used 5/8 ID hose on the breathers ,I might take the stock metal vent line T in front of the intercooler out too, my AVO TMIC doesn't even have anywhere to bolt it to...

That heater hose will eventually soak up oil and balloon up quite nicely. Heater hose isn't oil rated and soaks up oil.

I use hydraulic hose like Weatherhead and the like. Any hydraulic supply business will have it.

Yeah thats "Damien"...His favorite thing to do is ride in that damn car  He will just sit in the back seat when I am out working on it, the door is open so he could go run around in the yard but he just chills waiting for take-off, dogs got the subaru addiction...

On another note car is running like *&%$....:( . There is ome kind of leak post MAF and before the intake on the heads I think, the car drops down to crazy low amounts of load (.05 is the lowest I have recorded) and it bucks and stutters-sometimes.... replaced the front A/f sensor... 5 mins ago I just found my brake booster line was only hanging on by about 1/4 inch and it wasn't even clamped...:eek3: Hopefully that is why I am having the problems...

I have been tuning this myself with RR. Today I finally turned the boost up a little.... Wow I targeted 18 psi from about 4000rpm to 7000rpm... I ended up hitting 20.5 psi at 3800rpm not even trying (07 sti trans in 3rd gear)... I bet I could get higher than 20.5psi by 3800 if I worked the wgdc table some... And I bet I could full spool it by 3600 or better in fourth... I think the 2.2 innerdiameter pipe I used is helping a bit ;).... I have data logs too show the above too.... Btw on wastegate spring pressure (15.5 psi)I was hitting 310wtq 307 whp on airboys spreadsheet...

Here is one of the logs from last night... I have some more from tonight but I have not had time to put them on the spreadsheet... This is with about 400 lbs (me, gf, dog, fire ext., full size spare in trunk, tools,) and a full tank of gas... And I have 18in rims on with 225 40's or whatever.... I will have some real dyno results I just thought this was interesting for 18psi...

Yeah the weird Maf/Afr behavior was my new bosch ID 1000cc plug and play injector clip shorting out completly then coming back.... and it was intermitent... I soldered them straight in now its running excellent, besides my hybrid phantom knock but I think that is just going to need a hydra ecu's attention to sort all of that out, someday.... I am just dealing with it for now, its usually fine it just sucks when it dropps my Iam...

Yeah as soon as I started with the Gm boost solenoid it just started hitting hard and early... I am only using 29% wgdc.... We will be turning it up more and more...:eek3:

I have to get a 4th gear log and see how fast I can get it to spool up...

Hydra's work well, but they really suck for self tuning on the road. Riding shotgun in Derek's car tuning his 2.6 was a royal pain. On a dyno its a different story. Also, the Hydra's wiring harness is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

The Link Extreme is really nice. You can set your peak and hold current and among many other things. I've been rocking an older version for some time and the datalogging features are significantly more user friendly. You can actually stop the data stream, unlike the Hydra. Also, you can tune with the datalogging enabled. Also, it has a self tuning feature that DOESN'T need it's own wideband ($400 for Hydra's).

Just look around and play with their software before you make a decision. Call some vendors and talk to them, asking many questions.

That is some very wise advice thanks... It will be awhile before I invest in something, The GF wants her suby soon here so I am about to tackle the next project soon enough and its not going to be cheap...;) But I think I will def. play around with the software thats a great plan to see which one I would like to use... I am always tuning on the road so thats no good t hear about the hydra ...
I will have to check out the link extreme stuff never seen it before...

I don't know which way to go with the ecu but this damn hybrid running on the stock ecu is terrible.... keeps dropping my Iam... my timing advance is a flat 3.87 and my knock correction dropped to -4 during wot pulls today... nasty

OT dipp did you put that tube to good use you picked up that one day??

Piddster how much did that link extreme cost you , I was looking at some of them link systems on nasioc. look pretty nice.

I moved the knock sensor over into a different location... I have not had any wot knock yet so hopefully it works, but I think it is picking up transmission noise during cruising.lol as long as it doesn't drop my Iam from that cruise knock I am good for now... But I think I will end up getting a standalone so I can give the car a more precise tune... with all the hacking to get around the 300 g/s maf cap I think the Oem ecu has lost a bit of resolution...

Mine is a Link Plus G2, since they just changed the nomenclature for the new models.

With a 2 meter loom and a 5 bar MAP sensor, you are looking at about $2k out the door. That is pretty much the going rate for a nice setup from any company that produces standalones.

My AVO tmic moves 60lbs/min of air lol, I think this Garrett 3076 turbo is rated to flow at 52lbs/min.... So this TMIC works just fine, I stay a little stealthier, And I don't get any of that FMIC lag...

On another note I think I am going the hybrid way of boost control- a GM bcs paired up with hallman mbc... The gm bcs is not controlling boost very well at 17% wgdc it is hitting 18 psi... lol so I am going to try this out...
