21st would be sweet. iam gonna try to make this one boomer and josh have given me some fun insite. I need to go!
well I hope I can make this its short notice for work..but I think as I think things threw in my head more clearly I should have it off but you never know. When is the latest I can sign up?
At the event, as long as you can get registered and tech'd before the drivers' meeting. Schedule: Registration: 9:00AM-10:00AM Tech: 9:00AM-10:30AM Course walk: 9:00AM-10:30AM Driver's meeting: 10:45AM Parade lap: immediately preceding each groups first run Timed Runs Start: 11:00AM
any hotels reasonably nearby, or should I book something for the cities and drive up from there in the morning?
I can see not wanting to do the 3+ hours in the am and back in the evening. St. Cloud is on your way and not far from the event, there are a lot of places there. Otherwise, there's at least an AmericInn in Princeton.
So, I'm super excited about this new venue. It's a little farther than some for those of us on the south end of the cities, but closer for those on the north end, and a lot closer for the St. Cloud or Duluth crowds. We've got facilities with running water, not just a port-a-potty, plenty of paddock space, and an absolutely huge field for the course. We may not be able to put in quite as long a course as the really huge Cannon Falls site (not the one we've been to so far this year, but the one we'll be at in October), but it's very close. I'm not going to go for a course that long though, probably try to get something about 1 minute for the average driver. It's also the easiest site we've ever had to find. It's literally right off Highway 169. If I thought I could pull it off, I'd compete too, because it's going to be a fun one, but I know I'd make a hash of organizing it if I tried to drive too.
Hey all, I'd love to start seeing some pre-registrations for this. With the change in date, I'll admit to be a bit nervous that we may not get as large a turnout as usual, and that would be a shame, as this is really a great new venue for us. So, make me feel better and pre-register, pretty please?
I'll double check my schedule tonight (I'm pretty sure I can make it) and register. Sounds like it'll be a great event with the larger course. Just keep the layout tight so I can regain my rightful position ahead of Dan and Carl. No need for long straights where turbos become useful.
Sure. I'll be driving my '93 Chevy K1500 though, so you'd better make sure you get a good lead and never try to lap me!
a lunch. fluids (for your car and yourself). basic tools. appropriate clothing. a tarp is handy to put all your junk on. frs radio
You might want to take a look at my truck first. It's been a work truck for 15 years, and more dents might actually have the effect of straightening out the body panels some...
yeah, snell 2000 or better helmet FRS radio with good batteries. Lunch + beverages and snacks for throughout the day. sunscreen and/or bug spray, just in case. large tote-box and/or tarp to cover all the stuff you clean out of your car. clean out extra stuff from your car before getting there, even floormats need to be out when racing. spare tire (or set of tires) in case you get a flat, + tools to change tires. compressor or air tank could be handy too. wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. maybe a pair of gloves, they've come in handy in the past for me anyway. sharp pointy stick for rock picking on the course. some way to display numbers on your car, magnets or otherwise, make sure they're easily readable by course workers hmm.. that's all I can think of right now...
hmm.. I'm not sure on that, it's in the trunk of a sedan, so it's not in the passenger compartment, but they might want to see stuff actually bolted down or removed. Personally I hope they let you keep it in there, I'm all for you having extra weight in your car.
joel, I can assure you that IF I do this I would confidentially take LAST PLACE. My uber fast car is no match for your super ninja driving skills
Mark Utecht would have a better idea what the RallyCross board intends with the rules about loose objects, but I personally would consider anything attached with bungies to not be properly secured. I've seen the hooks fail on too many of them. Inside the trunk might be OK. In the cabin I would certainly fail it at tech. Can you get some ratchet straps and use those in place of the bungies?
hey now who says your getting last place! I was shooting for last place! great now I have competition for last too! booo.
Sorry to say but this will NOT suffice. We don't let cars with batteries secured by bungee cords run. I see these items as similar in weight. Please remove the sub or be prepared to remove it at the event. Mark Utecht wearing my RallyCross Safety Steward hat
as long as you hold it for me... they come out pretty quick so it shouldn't be a problem, then I can bolt them to Joel's car to make him slower:biggrin: (I still have to verify I can go....) and there's loner helmets?
BOGUS DATE CHANGE!!! I'm going camping that weekend and can't come to the rallyx. CRAP! I was really hoping for the 21st. My wife and I and a bunch of friends are going to Wookiefoot's Harvestfest in Geneva, MN and have already purchased tix. Music and partying all weekend. Twice a year we go to an event there and wouldn't miss it, even for a rallyx. Sometimes my hippy side comes out ahead of my racer/gearhead side....
is it ok if my car only has a driver seat lol? hopefully it won't but if things don't work out right, it may only have 1 seat
Remember, Mark Utecht and my RallyCross cars are Ice Racers!! My car looks like your fingertips after a bath! Anyone comes close and I'll put'em in the wall... er snow fence
