just a reminder....i need to snag a helmet from the person lending them out....that's still okay to do? thx
Yes, but you take them before your run, and then return them, because others might also need them. We only have a few loaners.
also, rainy weather ftl. and ftw. i don't care as long as it's not raining when I'm swapping wheels lol
Get an EZ-Up. Under $100 at Wal-Mart for the one I have, which is the easiest one to use I've ever seen (First-Up brand).
so I had a crappy night,...went to go put on the tires at sucbasteves and realized my "friend" mounted my directional tires wrong! so I had to drive to bobby and steves at 7pm at night and pay up the arse to have the 2 re mounted and balanced then put on the car. not to mention I am now missing a center cap grrrr.. oh well...I also went to traget and bought some snacks to share, cookies/chips/ and propel fitness water. Plus a little something for joshie! that I owe him
yeah Emily, that was a real bummer. You need to get something out of your friend for such a newbie mistake. My suspension is swapped back to wrx ride height...thanks to Dan for coming over a lending a hand. car is also cleaned out and ready to go play in the dirt!!:yumyum:
My new seats are installed, the car is cleaned out, winter tires are swapped, frs radios are charging, my wonderful wife made me a lunch and packed a cooler for me. So, I think I'm ready to go, as long as I can get up early enough...
i'm not bringing a lunch, I'll buy something up there. I usually bring one but I'm so frickin sick of eating the same home made lunch day after day...
Thanks for teaching me how to do a suspension swap. It was nice to have someone to wrench with for a change. Sounds like Sara might be staying home for this one. Morning sickness and long car rides don't mix very well.
Great event today! I love the bigger, faster venues. Well done Mark you put on a wonderful event that ran smoothly even with the rutting issues.
I had a great time, I just didn't have great times today. heh. I did improve throughout the day and my last run of the day felt really good. It was great experience to get on a different track layout. The weather turned out to be good too, I was afraid we'd get rain today and it'd be muddy, but a few sprinkles in the morning and that was it. There were lots of people, and lots of spectators as well. Russ, didya start uploading the pics yet?
i had a great time too! Thanks Mark H for putting it on and thanks to mark U for lettling me drive the car! it was great time
good times everyone! a blast as always, I guess I wasn't too rusty after missing an event but I'm still suspicious of that last time used for my 3rd run group - curious to see the detailed break-down - (times I saw on the board don't match up even if I did take out a cone) good to see the mnsubaru guys holding it down!
JUST WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM HOOKED!!! :yumyum::yumyum: Considering it was my first rallycross I was very happy with my times and 11th overall. Mark H and Mark U...both of you....thanks a ton!!!!!! It was a blast and I will be at the next one for sure. Thanks!
aahhhhheeeem! I agree! had a blast! I improved greatly threw out the day..and I won my last place! I also won a no cone knocking over award. I deff will be doing this again!
So I have 720 pics that I am uploading. I am just dumping them from the camera to smugmug so people can pick some out from there. I have some pretty good pics of pretty much everyone. Once the pics are done uploading (probably a week or two:laugh, I will post up the link and some teasers. Might be time to start charging for full res pics.:naughty: Yes, some of them turned out that good. Russ
Thanks again for the awesome event, I had a great time (despite probably not looking like it - nothing like hungover fishermen setting off their truck's alarm at 5:30AM for a wakeup call) Was awesome trying out the gravel tires today, definitely need to look into getting a dedicated set of rubber for this stuff... but I think the biggest help was having someone else drive the car / getting to ride along and see/feel how they hit the course. ...heh, yeah. My car is cheating on me. At least its good to know that it's me, and not it. Pick up some tires and leave it alone for awhile.
I want to write up a long response thanking everyone for what they did, but I'm just wiped out. So just a quick list: Brent 'Stick' Carlson, Mark 'Mayhem83' Utecht - I relied a lot on you guys today Dan 'Boomer' Drury - thanks so much for your help, and I am so ashamed I didn't congratulate you in person! I'm guessing your kid and our second will have pretty close due dates. Carrie 'Rallywife' Carlson for doing so very many things. Everyone who did all the things that needed to get done that I never heard about because you took care of them. And for everyone who came out. I really was overwhelmed by the turnout, with such short notice, at an unknown venue, so far away. I have a lot of mental notes that need to get written down for next time we run there.
Posted on Special Stage: It was a great event. Thank you to Amanda for being a huge help in Timing and Scoring and helping with the Carlson kidlets. It is hard to do T&S and be mom to a 2 kids (3 & 5) at the same time. I couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you to everyone who came out for the event. We had a better turn out than any of us expected. So glad to see so many familiar faces (even if I don't remember your names ). This site was great. We know that we will need to make some changes before using it again, to help with course integrity. As John noted, Thank you to Mark Holden for putting on a great event. You hardwork in a short time frame are greatly appreciated. Thank you Doug Davenport for helping us find this great location. It is awesome!
Yeah, today was pretty much awesome. It was last minute for me, I had to pay my friend to drive from WI to use his car to beat on in a rally and almost didnt make it on time. Good driving by everyone. the last track layout was a blast. The rotary seems to still be running strong so I guess we will be seeing you guys at the event down @ canon river. I wasnt going to say anything but me too. I called both of my runs to my friends and neither of them matched the times on paper. they were around 3/4 second or more off. just on the 3rd set though.. hmm, oh well. again, thanks for a fun day everyone. very entertaining
So I had a great time. Thanks for everyone putting together this event and hopefully MNSubaru/MNSOC can help the events get larger and larger. Still uploading, but I did post up a few pics. Hopefully by lunch it will be done so I can open up the gallery for everyone. http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27761 Russ
Excellent day indeed. If I shed a couple tenths, Amy is toast. I do have one complaint though. The track was TOO FAST! Next time, less straights. On the same token, i heard the other day that all you folks with turbo's shouldn't let them spin much, it will ruin your engine. In fact, a lot of people take them right out of their cars.
Please remember that this is only the second rallycross that we have used the timing system for. there are bound to be a few errors (probably in the operator and not the system, though we did have some issues with starts not getting picked up).
I wanted to thank everyone too. I had a great time watching the new timing and scoring system. Once it gets more understandable, it will be easier for us (in timing/scoring) and for the competitors (for consistency). I thought it was great that many people came, although it was busy for Holden
if I hadn't missed first gear on the last run in the pin turn... I think I might've tied denny for that run. d'oh!
