I just noticed this morning the lip of my car is cracked?? No scratches or impact just cracked?? I'm so frustrated. I haven't hit or been hit and there is no visible impact!

Do I have a chance pushing subaru to cover this? I mean there are no signs of impact. This car spends 99% of its time garaged

Only if you can get them to believe it's a defective part, which I doubt. Otherwise, it would be under your auto insurance. Sucks man. Sorry to see it happen on a car you just bought and are trying to sell.

Thanks. I'm actually leaning towards keeping it actually. The wife is easing up. I'm bummed with this though

Nice. Think of this as a bonding experience with your car then.

The 2011+ bumper cracks very easily, and in this spot every time.

Especially when it's very cold and the plastic is brittle, I'm sure.

It's a known issue, there are a bunch of threads about it on Nasioc. Once you get it fixed look at getting the front end clearbra'd. I also considered applying expanding foam to the inside to try and add some stiffness but never got around to it. I also had ordered an STI V-Limited lip spoiler but never put it on (the current owner did, and it looks great) but I wanted it to add some support to the lower side of the front bumper cover.

Good luck, glad to hear the wife may let you keep the car ;)

Sometimes lip spoiler helps but it's pretty common issue. I got lucky and never had a problem but not the case for other owners. Try talking to a dealership since it's kind of a common issue. It never hurts.

Subaru should own up to deffective bumpers if this happens often. They obviously didn't take "thin plastic+cold weather conditions" into account when designing the new body styles and panels. Sucks to hear, but i think that Brian just gave you alot of great ideas to try once you get it fixed to reinforce it tho!

I know, right! That's one of my only gripes about Subaru. They do recalls like "Fuel Lines" and "Control Arms", but when it comes to "Exploding Motors", they turn and look the other way!:banghead:
