So to start this off the guys @ Hawk Tech were super cool. I think they went over and above with their customer service. I in no way have a salty taste in my mouth with this company... even with this happening.

However, I am stuck with these and they will not be replacing them. They wanted to stress that these pads are for the track and not for DD. I figured I would share some pics to show you what I found swapping these out for my street pads. I was going to keep these as my track pads, but it looks like they are getting tossed now. You can tell from the pics that most of the life of these pads is still there. I would say they still have 60% - 70% of their life left.... if not more. It really sucks because I paid retail for these pads.

Note: They were GREAT track pads. I never got fade when running the road course @ BIR. This includes Chong running my car a few times @ BIR. IDK - I might have to pick up StopTech pads for the track now .... .... I do like my streets. So maybe a more aggressive StopTech pad is next and they will only go on at the track.

Note - each side had a bad pad. I am guessing that the slider pin assisted in this failing. Either way, my Stock Pads had more miles and didn't look like this. I did end up rebuilding my calipers as well when I swapped to my StopTech streets. I noticed when tossing on the new pads that my boots were ripped. However they were still functional when running these HP+ pads.

That is odd. I've ran Hawk HP+ on my Sti before, and that never happened to them (DD use) I also run Hawk DTC60's in my Miata and I will do the ocasionaly autox day, but 90% of the miles are on the street. 11k miles on the pads.

Yeah I thought the DD comment was weird... but he really was stressing track only. I am not salty. I understand why they don't warranty track pads. It just sucks that they had so much life left. I think they worked great for DD, besides the noise and dust.

Mr. DeeDeeDee HP + are Street/Track. That's misleading that they would tell you it's for TRACK ONLY. Cause I know for a fact you would NEVER EVER buy a TRACK ONLY pad. I think what really happened here is Tash watered down your pads really good. And maybe you drooled too much to notice the salty favor lol

Not the first comment I have seen with HP+ pads not getting good reviews on a Subaru. I ran stoptech pads on my 2012 WRX, they were decent pads. However will not hold up to track use. They were toast after 1 day at BIR, with 5-6 auto-x and 5-6k street miles.

Yeah. While they were on the car I had zero issues.... but they obviously have to be trashed now.

Weird, I don't think I've seen HP+ crumble like that before. I've seen that with EBC pads a number of times.

I'll say this, I wasn't too thrilled with the HPS performance during the last track day. If HP+ is going to do that and they're going to say "track only", that seals the deal to look at some carbotech bobcats or stoptech next time around.

I think mr. D has his stored in Florida. I swap out all my track pads over to street every winter. And I store mine in the cold MN garage without any issues. I've had some pretty good luck with these pads. They're consistent and do well for what you buy them for. IMO they're a bit too aggressive for a lot of novice and intermediate drivers. The only thing I'd complain a little bit about is they do wear out faster on heavy cars like Subaru's and Evo's. But then again I do brake late and a lot harder then most people.

Drivers shouldn't get the idea into their heads that buying their first aftermarket pad is going to solve all their problems. I actually have 4 different types for one car. Your situation is going to be different and your not going to brake the same either. Things happen and you just need to keep an open mind about what you could do differently next time.

Brakes are consumables and are cheap insurance just like your tires. Go cheap and too expensive and you could end up parking your car for a while.

Yeah after some good ride along conversations last night I am going to go a bit more aggressive with my track only pad... and keep it track only.

I really do like my StopTech Streets... however I could smell them after a few laps (easy to heat up) and I could start to feel them fade as I approached 15+ minutes of track time. They work great on the street but they are street pads hands down.

The HPS isn't a pad for the track. I was happier with the parts store pads in my old STi then the HPS pads that came in my current STi. I am now running the Ferrodo 2500, a bit noisy but they have been holding up great for the auto-x and track use I have had.

That sucks! I have been running Stoptech for two years. Two and a half seasons of autocross, a BIR HPDE, MAP PG, and 2 NF DCTC events. I should be able to finish the autocross season, and winter DD with the set I have. I do have a set of Centric rotors and another set of pads in the garage just in case. :)
I personally believe for the price, (maybe even regardless of the price) these are great pads. They seem to hold up just fine for the occasional track use, and are a great upgrade from the stock pads.
I don't think you can go wrong with the Stoptechs.

Yeah I think I'll look into a more track oriented StopTech.

Those were HP+. They are not street pads like the HPS.
