i have a 2002 wrx with a pnp hid kit, though i dont think it has anything to do with it.

what would happen is im driving with my headlights on and i flip the signal switch, to change lanes, or to turn ect. the headlights would turn off or flicker real quick and come back on.

it doesnt happen every time, maybe 1 our of 3 times i flip the signal switch. it happens more so when i signal left but regardless happens for both sides.

anyone else have a problem such as this?
    any input would appreciated.

    thanks

A lot of people are going to tell you it's something other than this, but I can say with 99% confidence it's your headlight combination switch. Go to your car and take off the plastic around the steering column. There should be 2 screwsthat you need to unscrew for the bottom and I belive 2 for the top. Now look at the lever that you turn the blinkers/lights on with. There will be 2 screws and a wireharness to unclip. Do that and remove it from the car and bring it inside.

There should be a clear plastic thing over it, so remove that and then take out the 2 tiny little screws and then unclip the wiring harness. The harness is a bitch to get out I lifted up on the black thing with a needle and slid it out and ended up breaking the black thing. Oh well it still fits snugly after, no harm done. Now that it's unclipped open it up and there will be three round contact points and they will be covered in black ****. Take some cotton swabs and clean them really well. Put it all back together and put it back in your car and it will work perfectly again.

I did this when my low beams worked, but my highs didn't when I pushed the lever forward, but when I pulled back on it the highs worked. I thought it was the combo switch, people on NASIOC told me I was wrong and they thought it was a relay, and then I cleaned it and the lights have worked great ever since.

i'll put 100% guess on the combination switch too... i had the same problem in my 04... jiggle the handle a little, they came right back.

swapped out the combination switch, 'bout a hundred bux if i remember, and it hasn't been a problem since.

^ Yeah they cost about $100. Typically they don't go bad though, the contact points just get covered in grime.
