I've got all the mechanical assembly done on my '05 Outback XT, but I need to get a base map on the car to get it to run. I've made too many mods for it to run on the stock map. I'd like to try to get a map with reasonable injector scaling on it so I can run it around and check for leaks before getting it properly tuned. The car has DeatschWork 850cc injectors, and a VF52 turbo, and a bunch of other junk. I've got a Tactrix cable, and opensource software but I've never used it so I'm looking for some help. The car is in Mound. Anyone know what they're doing and got some time to give me a hand this weekend? Ray
Have you flashed with opensource at all before? Just changing the injector scaling is pretty easy. Did you change the intake also, hopefully not as its a pain to scale injectors and intake at the same time. Have you installed a WB02 yet?
Hadn 't flashed OS before, but now that I've done it, it was no big deal. The toughest thing was figuring out where the test connectors were. Read enough to know not to play with the MAF and injectors at the same time. Tried a map with injector scaling only, with injector scaling and latency set, with injector scaling and cranking PW set. None of the maps worked. Car still won't start so I put the original map back on it. I think there is some other problem.
Are you letting the car "sit" for a few moments after turning on the ON key for the first time after a flash? With the drive by wire cars, they need to recalibrate and initialize before starting up for the first time -- even a stock map on a stock car will do the same thing if you try to crank it over right away.
Funny you mentioned having to wait until trying. I noticed this requirement after I finished trying different maps, so I'll probably try uploading a map again and waiting for a minute with th ekey on before trying.
Yeah, just follow this pattern: 1. flash car 2. turn key off after flash is done and unhook everything related to flashing 3. turn key to ON and wait a few moments -- you should hear some mechanical sounds and whatnot during this pause. Do not engauge the starter just yet! 4. fire it up and hope it doesn't blow up, hehe
