After lots of testing, poking and prodding to figure out my fuel pump problem I have decided I must have a short somewhere. I have no real experience finding these so I could really use some advice. My pump doesn't prime at all. Originally it was on again off again and would click when the key was off. Then while reseating my grounds I got sparks off the main ground on the intake manifold. Now the power to my fuel pump controller seems to be bleeding in to the ground system. What I think was the positive wire (I don't have schematics) now reads 0.05 volts instead of 10. The negative reads 1 volt with the key off and 3+ volts with the key on. (both tested against chassis ground). I think water is bridging a connection somewhere since this started while I was playing in snow and now reappeared when a ton of snow was melting off my car.
The good news: The car is now running. The connector inside the sending unit had fallen off. Aside from the exhaust leak she seems to run well. The bad news: I know that connector was on, because I pulled it off to test the pump. I think the underlying issue still exists. All the power lines test fine with the new relay. Power was not flowing properly on occasion with the old relay. I'm crossing my fingers that a faulty relay was the issue, but any other ideas would be welcome. I do NOT want this happening again.
