    Hey guys,

Just got the WRX not too long ago, trying to figure out what I'm working with with suspension (mainly because I want to purchase some summer rims/tires soon, and to know what the heck Ii've got). Took the wheel off tonight, and snapped some pics.

I see the shocks are Tokicos (model db3206 as you can see in one of the photos). Weird thing is, when I google that number they come up as black d-specs. The words "d-spec" wasn't anywhere that I could see on the shock, but maybe an older model of the d-specs were blue? From afar I just thought they were Tokico HP Blues (because they are blue, of course), but the model number stamped on them is throwing me off.

Also can anyone ID those springs? Couldn't find anything stamped on them.

    Thanks for the help!

Hard to say just from the pictures, but the most popular blue springs on a WRX are the Prodrives. Drop looks about right for them, as well.

Ahh yes good point I didn't read into that ... hmmm well is it a sedan or wagon? I'm trying to see how tough it would be to look at the top of the strut.

    Dont forget SPT Springs too.

I've got Tokico HP blues before and yes they look exactly like that.

Those look A LOT like Prodrive springs. Mine are about the same color.

If you want and get bored you can take your back seat out, and remove the top cover on either the driver or passenger side and find out what they are. It's kind of a PITA but you'll know for sure then. Ya know?

Cool, so from that perspective I should be looking for another logo/stamp?

I wonder if there is another logo hiding behind the spring cup that I didn't see:

I am not too familiar with Tokico's but if you took off the dust cover you would see if it was adjustable or not. I guess at that point you would know what you have. Do you know the age of these?

    I wanna learn too LOL!

Haha. Learning is cool. Not too sure of the age. That's why I wasn't sure if they made any past models of the D-Spec in blue. I'll probably take the wheel back off tomorrow and give it a longer look.

When it comes to your original question regarding wheel/tire fitment, whether they are d-spec or HP shouldn't matter.

Like everyone else said, the springs look like Prodrive. So you should be safe picking any reasonable tire and wheel size.

    Awesome, thanks!

On that note, what's the most common size of summer wheels people ride on here? 17s, 18s? I was looking at some 18s, but didn't want to have to worry about rubbing issues or wheel well modification. I think the 18s were 8.5" wide. They also come in 9.5" width. Basically not sure if I should go for 17s or 18s.

17's are much better on a WRX. Typical mild-agressive tire size for a sedan is 225/45/17.

Cool, thanks for the info. I just know this gives a tingling in the pants (18x9.5 +38 with 245/40/18 tires):

Those are also the wheels I'm eying, Rota Grids.
