35w is OEM on HID's. you can't compare output by wattage between lamp types. IMO 35w are plenty bright
hmm iv been thinking about getting a set of hids for the teg, i just might have to do that at this price.
I will be ordering hers when we get the cash. I just got mine in today and installed them. very easy install. I got the 4500k 35w low beam only. <---thinking he should of waited a week and saved some extra $$$$ for the high/low combo. oh well they are still brighter then my stock high beams, well what ever bulbs I bought from vector. They actually do not look to bad for being in a bugeye, was just out driving around and did not get flashed at all. I like them better then my old set I used to have. they do not seem as obnoxious.
IIRC the ones I sold you had stock wattage low beans, and 100W high beams, so they were only brighter than stock when the high beams were on, otherwise they were normal. Actually, I should have at least one set of those (used) if not two sets (1 used 1 new) in the garage somewhere from my old bugeye.
No doubt. A 35w HID will put out more lumens than a 130W halogen. So there's going to be more light than a 100W, for sure.
we were discussing this last night... what would work in the 04 Foresteer?? Driftin.. refresh my mammaries
I think he said our bulbs are 9003 which are equal to an H3. I am not a 100% sure on that. but I did see a high/low beam kit for either of the above numbers.
The 04 Forester indeed uses a 9003. But that's not equivalent to an H3 in any way shape or form. H3: 9003: The H4 is very similar to the 9003, and a lot of places sell bulbs that are labeled as both, but some 9003s are a bit longer, and have the filament in a slightly different place. But they are essentially interchangeable.
From what I know, yes. But I can't be 100% certain, because I don't have the bulbs here to verify (though I think my Sentra runs 9003, but it's out on the trailer and I'm not climbing out there to look at the bulbs right now, you'll have to excuse me).
Sylvania lists it as a 9003. I think it might be a European vs. Asian standard difference. Same bulb, but two different standards organizations.
Finally installed the set I got for my wife's car. It was an H1 set for an Altima, and the install took a little effort, mostly because you have to take out the coolant reservoir, the windshield washer tank neck, and the airbox just to get to the damn bulbs on the car. then the weatherproof covers for the back of the light housings had to be drilled out to fit the larger grommets. The lights themselves were simple to wire in (plug and play), and work great. Very nice cutoff, no hotspots or scatter. Helps that the H1 bulb happens to line up pretty much perfectly with the HID capsules and the Nissan housings are designed for a HID retrofit (OEM part) also. We'll see how they hold up, but so far, they look good.
Alright, I've read through this twice and I'm fairly confused. Mark, you seem to be the lighting guru around here. If I go this route, will I get more of a standard light pattern out of the Morette lens? The eruo light pattern is driving me crazy - granted I know I need to adjust them, but I already get flashed and they seem extremely low to me. With the standard (non HID) Morette lens the blind spot on the drivers side is awful. I'm picking up a set of bugeye OEM lights and am going to run those until I can figure out weather or not I can swap the lens on the Morettes. I have E-mailed probably 10 vendors, including Morette to find out if the low beam lenses can be swapped out with the same size lens that throws a us pattern, but no one knows. I've got that set of Denali HID lenses, bulbs and ballasts that I want to try to butcher, but not if they won't fit.
changing lamps will have no bearing on your light pattern. If you have the euro style designed for LHD then this will just make things worse. You'll still blind oncoming traffic, just in a much worse way.
What techy101 said above. are you saying that your Morettes are RHD pattern (Japan & England) or "Euro" most of which is LHD like the US? If you're getting flashed, putting in HID bulbs really, really won't help. Measure the lens of the low beam. If it's around 3-1/2", it should be possible to swap in the Hella 90mm modules.
Yeah, they are a RHD light pattern: ................................___ ...........dark............../ ...........area.........../ light area ........................./ ______________/ light area Honestly I don't know why I am getting flashed. If I'm behind a car 40 yards, my headlights don't even light up their drivers side tail light. It's friggin annoying. I measured the diameter of the low beam glass completely- not just the spherical lens inside of the light itself. I have not had time to take off the cover to have a look at what mounts where. But are you saying that the whole low beam assembly can likely be swapped out? Also, how is this light pattern caused?
Regardless of why you are getting flashed, HID's will just make it worse. If you are looking to do a real true retro THESE guys sell some very high quality OEM projector assemblies. Also the forum on that site has more information than you could ever, ever want to know about doing retro's.
Im interested in HID's for the wagon, wasnt there a group buy that happened? How are those kits holding up?
This wasn't a group buy, just their new pricing. So far mine have been just great. I've had two times where for some reason one lamp didn't strike properly, but a quick turn off and back on of the headlights fixed that right up.
I've got a similar set from CNLight. Install was cake on the '06 WRX, and the light pattern with the stock projectors is awesome. I also bought some plug'n'play LED's for the city lights, as I didn't like the look the bulb had with the HID. The cool-white LED's look perfect with the 4500's I got.
I just ordered a set of 5000k. Anybody want to help me install these? I know its probably not that hard but I don't know much about electrical. And help from someone that has used this set would be nice. I can pay by a case of beer!?
A week, week and a half? But I ordered just when their huge shipment came in, and so i was like the 1,000th+ order queued up.
They show two kits. DDMs at $55 and Apexcones at $40 Seems that the only difference is the ballast size. So, does the lifetime warranty cover the bulbs? If not, how long should they last? I have silverstar bulbs in mine now and they seem to last less than a year and they are $25
can you pm me the part number for yours.... I may have to put this on my wish list from the mother in-law for christmas
