Just woundering on how you heard about the site. New members and old feel free to post up on how, who, or what brought you in. If I am missing something from the poll or you answered "other" post it up, beacuse I would like to hear about it. Thanks, Dean
I bought my car at Morrie's 'Tonka and the parts guys let me know. Don't remember if it was Brian, Erik or Brian - but I'm sure it was one of them.
I noticed the website through google, but never registered. After talking with 4drcivicmaster etc I decided to sign up.
I bumped into a member at a Holiday station in an older Red Legacy sedan...pretty sure that he was a member, can't remember who though. I've always thought that MnSubaru biness cards would be a great way to invite Subie owners to the site. Never really got it rolling though. We did do a bunch of MnSubaru cards during HIN a few years back, put them on every Subaru in the parking garage down by the convention center.
I voted other though it was kinda word of mouth once we approached the group. The first night we had the STi we drove down university like we had done "back in the day" When we drove past Firestone I about crapped when I saw all the Subarus. I made my wife turn around(I didn't know how to drive the car yet) and the rest is history. I remember it was Readymix that told me about the site and also told us to get a downpipe and Accessport.
I had a piece of paper under a wiper blade when I came out of a home depot or similar store, it looked like a printed out form with the site address on it and a place to put the persons name who put it on the car. This was maybe 5 years ago? I wish I had kept it...
I was looking for some previous-owner-lovin before I bought my wagon. Google brought me here and Ctracey218 delivered the info. Been here ever since.
There was about a dozen of us at a simple meet from the yahoo group. We had some good info about the brand new wrx, so we talked another guy into creating MNSubaru on a webserver in his basement. So I was kinda around for the creation process. Russ
Met a guy through my wifes school. He was intrigue that I drove a WRX as he was still driving a 01 RS. Fong called me up and asked if I wanted to go to a Subaru meet at automotion in Roseville.
Was in the market for a new car. Looked around for an acura rsx or tl. When my brother in law first mentioned subaru wrx, defintely was not considering one at all. After a while searching for a car, I thought I might as well start test driving all kinds of cars. First car I test drove was a black wrx at morries in brooklyn park, loved it! BUT didnt buy after talking the price down a bit. It had no speakers, no ac (was one of those HOT days in the summer) minor dent in front bumper and minor scratches. After that first test drive, I needed to buy a wrx. Brother in law told me to get on mnsubaru and nasioc for wrx's and finally settled for a 02 wrb wrx with rebuilt engine. Been on here ever since, reading a lot on here and learning a lot! BTW the owner I bought it from gave me an aftermarket front bumper (sold it), and an extra set of OZ 17s waiting to get summer tires!
I haven't seen Brent on here for the loooongest time!? Fail. Actually, either one of them for that matter. Double fail!
Brent lives out in Colorado these days, I think Matt posts once in a while? Anyways - noticed the site particularly on Matt's hoodie that he wears, and decided to join a few months after getting a Subaru and taking some decent pics (well, laserj took them!).
I was doing research on google and dogpile about wrx. Many times questions i asked were actually answered on this forum. The last search was about tinted windows ( suv has them and I have always had them in the past) I see a purpose for them yes they look good but i don't like the sun hitting my eyes. I wear transition lenses but even those if the sun hits the corner it effects me. Well it took me here for regulations in MN. at that point I realized this is the site i need to be a member of, it has great comments.
Before I moved from California, I figured I'd check to see if there was anything going on in Minnesota. Somebody on WRXFanatics said to check this place out. Don't remember who at this point. I registered for an account, but after 3 months, nobody had accepted my member request. Once I got to Minnesota, I re-registered with a different name. Eventually, I had admin powers, and I took that opportunity to fix my user name back to 'readymix' and deleted the one that never got registered.
My cousin joined a few years before me when he had his 05 Wagon. I joined to find out some details about my car and learn some stuff.
I think I saw it on I-club, don't remember, to tell you the truth I don't care much anymore! Subaru makes very nice reliable automobile(s) that I will keep buying, but not modding... I'm over the car club rubbish, I still love MOST of you folks though
Heard about the site from a cool guy last week that had a WRX also and he took a nasty deposit stain from a parking ramp off my front hood. Thanks man!
That's mainly because you're an old man now with chillins. I remember the days of the L growling away at the ice races and the shenanigans we had...back before you grew grey hair on your bawlz. Welcome to the site!
I was down on University with some buddys from another car group with my SVX, I was headed down to get food towards Porky's and was intercepted by LGT, Fuji, Fong and a few others and they had me come down to the Firestone lot, met a bunch of members who understood and were interested in my odd Scoob and was told about the site... the rest, they say, is history.
it would've been more entertaining if it was on a bike, he was riding with lgt I believe at the time... it was like a cheezy scene out of fast and furious because they circled my car with theirs. I almost thought I needed to call Dom and have Jesse retune my car with some overnight parts from Japan
Found out about the site after doing some WRX research on clubwrx.net. Lexi (BossSTI) told me about this site, so I came over and checked it out. Once I made it out to a Tuesday meet at Lake Calhoun, I was completely hooked. At least a few of the people I met in person there I'm still really great friends with outside the club.
New to the Subi world, Hi this is Jim Xiong, planning on buying my first Subi but dont really know where to go or where to start or what to look for when deciding on a used Subi. Have been looking at a few Subi Legacy L and GT trim, I look up the spec on them and their pretty much the same, for those who has owned a Legacy or similair what are the difference between the trims. Im looking to buy a Legacy as my first Subi ride any insight would be great.
L is the "limited" trim option. "GT", assuming you're talking about 2005 and up, means you're in turbo land and all that entails. Post here : http://mnsubaru.com/forums/the-welcome-mat.11/ also: http://legacygt.com
Actually I found a few 98 to 04 that are GT, but their not turbo charge, so maybe this is a mistake in Subi's advertising......
Slow down and really soak in your research. Make sure you understand what people tell you. 1998 and 2004 are both before 2005. I said "assuming 05 and up", turbo'd.
Right I understand that 05 and up does come with turbos on the GT models, but on older models they dont, and if they do it be really rare to see them with turbo on. Anyway is there a difference in their handling wise while being on the road.....
I saw the stickers a few times on the road, and discovered the site afterwards searching online, and finally met jamusix at the Holiday on Grand Ave. shortly after signing up, to find out that he sang professionally with my girlfriend, and we had a bunch of mutual friends, and moreover an obsessive love for Subaru. I got my 04 JBP WRX fully loaded from a 60 something year old woman who worked for my dad, and gave me a great deal on it, and now, after a few years stalking the boards, trying to learn about the cars, I have been able to slowly start to mod the car (with a lot of help from Sheen, and my best bud from high school who's the mechanic at Beach's Long Lake Service in New Brighton). Great community, great advice, help, and always good for a good laugh or two in the midst of crazy work days.
Heard about MNSubaru from guys on NASIOC, but joined because of people I know kept asking me if I was on here. I also figured it never hurts to be able to find more poeple to help me with my messed up Impreza.
Tash brought me here about a year ago so I can get into the crew because I was planning on getting a subaru (which I did of course)
