I'm pretty sure you can, but not 100% positive. 18's are gonna look huge on a gc! Go to www.rs25.com, there will be a boat load of answers to this exact question I'm sure.

true, only lowering springs will lower the car, not rims

It will make your car slower.
    Just like "slamming" it.

I think he's asking how low he can lower it (with coilovers or springs) and still fit 18's on it.

on the gc i would only go with 16's but thats my opinion. i have 17's on my legacy and im not really a fan of them that much. as far as rubbing issues go a lot of it has to do with offset and rim width. the offset that i have is 32mm and they did rub. but if you go with a stock off set they may or may not rub i couldnt tell you.

It depends.. on your wheel and tire combination.... if you get lower profile tires.. it will actually drop your car with 18's... Really depends on what you want... bigger wheels look better but they normally are heavier... and will make your speedometer be inaccurate.... Sho or Go... that the question....

Not a good idea to go with 18s on a GC. They just seem really big on the car and won't won't match unless you have supporting exterior stuff to make it work. I think this is the only GC I've seen that works well with 18s, he's got a good drop and the sideskirts/spats/lip combo.

I'd say go with 17s. 16s if you want quick acceleration, but 17s are better for corners with low pros. Also, not all 17s are heavier than 16s, the Enkei RPF1s are a good example of a lightweight but strong rim that's pretty affordable. I'm running 17x7.5 Advan RGs on my GC and they're only 15.2 pounds per rim. Lighter than stock 16s.

If you're interested, I'm also selling some gunmetal WedSport SA-90s 17x7.5 wrapped with 215/45/17 Goodyear Eagles - looks amazing on a GC. But they are heavier than stock.

You can do 18"s if you want to. You will not be able to lower your car much at all however. I am running 17x7s and I am running KYB struts (set to max) and STi pink springs. If I turn down my struts to "normal" street level I will rub, and I have pulled the fenders and 1/4s as far as I personally can. ( I used a fender roller, and the baseball bat method). I also recall justin running into rubbing issue at stock ride height with 17"s with stock impreza L suspension (rolling fixed this)

I would say that if you go 18"s you will want to have coilover suspension with adjustable ride height. It will take alot of fine tuning to figure out how low you can go without rubbing and without rolling the fenders.
