I just started snowboarding again last winter, hadn't boarded in atleast 10 years. I have a seasons pass to Spirit Mt. because its only 10 mins away. As for having lots of snowboarders in the club, look at the little sticker that says AWD gotta be able to get to the mountain somehow.

Being a snowboarder for 15 years now, I have to agree. The craziest crap I've evern seen done in the backcountry has ALWAYS been done by dual-plankin' fools (especially by those nuts on tele-skis).

Plus, it is SOOOOOO much easier to hike in/out to the backcountry sweet stashes on skis as opposed to walking. ;)

ive got some sweet vids of me and some friends back country skiin it in blackcomb and some just outside of frisco(colorado) ive been skiing for about 17 years, and im 19, but im pretty good at snowboarding to, i just find skiing easier in powder, and you guys cant deny skiing allows for more tricks and crazy cliff gainers and stuff

I've been snowboarding for about 3 years, i'm not all for park riding but i do enjoy it and i would like to say i don't suck too bad. Anyway usually i go with jnorthwrx but obviously from his first post i'm not good enough to count as a "friend to go with" . I ride a really crappy burton but i hope to buy some Solomon stuff this winter. So yea, i'm in for whatever if any of you guys decide to go somewhere this winter

Nice. Post 'em up if you can.

I'm guessing that you ride fat powder skis? Or is it that you aren't riding your snowboard fast enough through the pow.... :p

Which snowboarder didn't start out skiing first? I started skiing as soon as I could walk and then changed over to snowboarding when I was 12. So I guess I've been boarding for 10 years. I used to work at blackjack over in the UP and first instructed for a year and then became the snowboard director. But then we got an A**HOLE of a boss and I couldn't deal with him so I quit. But if you guys ever head over to the UP send me a message and I'll be more than glad to show up and have some fun.

il try to load them if i can, i dont know if i will be able to because they were all on an old school camera with the big tapes in em, i actually raced at a high level for a long time so i usually got all or most of my equipment for free, and the only reason i enjoy skiing more in the pow pow was because you can go faster in the trees on skis!

haha snowboarding is tight as hell. this will prob be my 6th year boarding?

ive had my 2.5RS for like 3 months and lovin it, went to a track event with the BMW racing club (my dad has a 330i and is huge on racing it etc...) and was talkin to a few people there who were driving WRX's and they informed me about this site.

PM me anytime if u want to go boarding this winter, i think me n the guys are gona get a season pass to welch this year (we did afton last year, buck the year before).

Btw were all a bunch of crazy 16 year olds... thought u might want to know that beforehand :)

edit: got my 360s down solid last year, altho im much better on rails. If ur into doing tricks at all hit me up for sure. Im in the process of teaching my friends the basics with them (my friend thats just been at it 2 years has 180 grabs down and is catching me already... im scared ^^ )

and to everyone whos railing on snowboarders --- believe me the good boarders hate the posers just as much as u do. Getting back from riding with pros in back bowls in colordo/utah then coming back to a wall of boarders waiting for the trick park in MN can get frustrating :)

edit#2: now i need to go find some pics of the back bowls in utah... ^^
btw big mountain looks sweet, those pics are nice.

    Me.

I just started snowboarding last year. I work as the IT guy for a snowboard shop called The House in Saint Paul (ever hear of it?). They pretty much threatened me by saying if I didn't go willingly they were gonna throw my ass down the hill whether I liked it or not.

After two days on the hill, I bought my 2005-06 full season pass to Trollhaugen :)

This past Sunday I actually tried wakeboarding out. I can't say I did as well as my first few times snowboarding, but I can't wait to get better!

I have been boarding for about 8 years now. I usually go to the mountains at least once a winter. I am always up for it so if any type of trip were to occur you could count me in!!

you sure you wanna mess with this son? im pretty expirienced lol........the funnest ive ever done is a place called loveland pass in colorado near the loveland ski area, loveland pass is this huge really steep face and there is a road that zig zags up the face leaving like 50-100 yards in between each road, so what we did was rented a 15 passenger van with a humongous roof rack/steelbox type thing, packed the van full of friends, one dude would drive us to the stop and then we would hit all these sections of powder/trees/cliffs inbetween roads, kinda push ourselves over the parts of the road we couldnt jump and then the van would pick us up the bottom like 1800 ft below......best time of my life and way better than spending 100 dollars on a lift ticket along with the crime of 8 dollar cheese burgers they have over there, but im only 19 and im saving up for a timeshare condo in steamboat!!!! ahh someday ;)

I've always wanted to hike Loveland Pass.

If you think that terrain is sick, check out Silverton Mountain in SW Colorado. About the only place that will have scarier terrain in N. America is in Alaska.

I nearly shat myself there a few times on some of the 50+ degree rock-strewn sections.

EDIT: I've been riding longer than you have been able to read, lol. :p

If you could beat me from the top of the "Mountaintop Express" to the base at the "Village" at Vail, maybe we could talk about paying... I'll bring the long board!

the best snow i've ever had was in steamboat... you get some of that and you are spoiled forever! i remember going down a black, but there was so much snow i coudlnt even find the moguls that were under all of it. i wiped and was completely covered in powder, i started to laugh out loud i was so happy :)

    ... Boyne!
i visted a friend in the UP and we drove there. i remember it being ok for the midwest... and i think i remember a pretty big tabletop which i caught an edge landing.

i've been boarding for... i'll guess at 12 years. my first board was an original Burton Jeff Brushie (rainbow trout on the tail), the same year i used a craig kelly that i rented to learn on. (isn't he dead now or something?)

a good trip was the 12 people in a 15 passenger van to jackson hole in the spring. i signed up late for the hoofers ski trip and luckily there were enough of us that wanted to go, so the whole group was 2 bus loads + the 15 passenger van. crazyness.

Riding at Vail is a huge pain in the ass. You have to take eleventy billion chairs and ride a crapload of cattracks just to get to different parts of the mountain.

Hell, there's even a part where you actually have to download from a chairlift to get to an area over by the park.

True, if you actually intend to ride the whole mountain... I had a pass there many a year ago and we rode 2-3 times a week. I had no problem finding plenty of riding off of one or two lifts. At Vail, it's all about knowing where to go! 8)

...there was no name where we would ride... There are reasons the locals still ride Vail, and none of them have a name.

    hehe

On a side note, we rode the China Bowl that year, the day it opened! There was a deeeep base, plus 17+" the night before. We were up to our waists in untracked powder and the wankers were up to their armpits! We rode untracked powder for a good 3hrs. I did a 30' drop off the Dragon Teeth cliffs and it felt like a wind drift. Pure insanity, I say, pure insanity!

some people in here better be interested because i am getting anxious, ive already found some pretty cheap options if we were to do this. tom suggested big mountain montana and ive heard a lot of good things about there from other people. the amtrak rails run right by there i guess and on their site they have amtrak train round trip, 4 nights lodging and 3 days lift for 470 per person based on double occupany, thats pretty cheap. ive also found a couple places that have packages of lift and lodging for like 100-150 per person per day for like 3 days/3 nights and then we could drive. I dunno about you guys but i think those prices are pretty decent and either way this would only require taking a few days off work, go thursday-monday or somthin including drive time or train ride. if we had a bunch of people interested, like 7 or 8 we could just rent a cabin or condo and then it gets really cheap when you split it up between everyone. i know its early but if there is interest we should definately get somthin planned by mid october.

Yup. Amtrack rolls right through Whitefish, MT. From there, there is a FREE shuttle that goes through town and up to the mountain.

I like utah because they have the best friggin snow on this planet. They usually have some good package deals also. They have a bus that runs from hotels to all of the resorts. The only trick is getting there cheap and its not a short drive.

no its definately not a short drive i think anywhere in colorado or utah would prolly take 16-18 hours, correct me if im wrong. thats why the big mountain montana package seems like an awesome deal because of the train, even though its like a 20 some hour train ride but you can always go to sleep and there is also a lounge car and stuff so it wouldnt be so bad.
