I can not get my car into first at a stop with the clutch in, it will not go not with the car on or off. Can't even force it in. Does anyone know what the problem is? I Replaced the clutch and flywheel 3500 miles ago with act lightweight flywheel and clutch masters fx300 clutch kit.
My 06 box will not like to go into first now and again. Usually a double clutch will take care of it. Otherwise as Bookem said go second and back into first.
I've got an 05 6speed STi and have to release the clutch and repress the clutch again to get first sometimes. Seems to be worse as soon as it starts to get cold. Second to first also works. Had an Evo before and that suffered the same thing for first and second in the cold. Was the 6 speed MR and the local Mitsi dealer couldn't fix it after repeated attempts. In the end they bought it back. Try releasing the clutch and engaging again.
May seem like stupid questions, but how many miles are on your car, has the trans fluid been changed, if so what was put in?
It won't go even from second to first it's almost like the linkage is jammed the fluid was changed when the new clutch was installed 3500 miles ago. Some body told me it could be the syncros, is that a possibility?
So you can't get it into first at all? When did the problem come up? Was it abrupt, since you put in the clutch, got progressively worse, or has always been like that?
If I remember correctly first gear on 5mt don't have syncros, reason going into second gear then first helps. Can anybody confirm that?
I believe starting in '06 the 5MT had new first gear synchros that should help getting in to first while moving. FWIW, my '06 will get into first no problem, just needs a pretty close rev match to get there.
EJ 5MT gearboxes have a synchronized 1st gear. They have not been known to be friendly on getting into 1st when moving much above 5mph if that on higher mileage boxes. 06 WRX got a twin cone 1st gear syncro in an attempt to remedy this. Personally I am able to get my 06 box in first going 25-30mph no problems.
the clutch master is still driving the slave and the shift fork is working correctly? Pedal feel hasn't changed?
