no its going to be 3 months of bench racing, followed by 10 seconds of speeding on a highway, followed by 3 years of gloating. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL RACING! stop making threads and posting threads to challenge people to street race your car joe. Better yet, take it to a track with timing devices so we can see what the "game over" master is capable of. Be sure to post your time slip.
Yep, i think that exactly the problem. It was the first night i drove the car. i am still not very used to the clutch on this car. It either jerks or i slip the clutch t much.
my brother killed his evo 9 clutch in 9k miles. he said he knew how to drive a stick. As in knew in principal and had done it a few times a decade earlier.
^lol. That blows. Taras, you might want to head to firestone sometime when fuji or lou is going to be there, and have them give you a quick lesson on the proper way to drive a stick. That being said, I think ANYONE can learn a lesson in driving from those guys, (heel-toe, rev matching, etc.)
 well, i know how to drive a stick pretty well, i learned how to drive on a car with a stick shift. I have only had the car for 4 days and have never driven a turbo awd car before.
turbo and awd don't change anything for basic clutch operation. i've had 2 turbo awd cars, 2 turbo rwd cars, 1 rwd truck, 1 fwd car all with manual transmissions - none of them drove differently in terms of normal operation
well, i noticed that with my wrx you have to give it way more gas to start off that with my v6 cougar. It feel like the car is well less toque than the cougar at low revs. With the cougar i could pretty much stop at a stop sight on a second gear and then easily pick up without any jerking.
bah! road noise pff. Just turn up the stereo, or listen to the car ... If it's just the tires making noise while driving, you're not modding it enough
a 2.5L NA higher comp 6 cyl will have better low end torque than a 2 liter low compression turbo engine. Once the turbo spools, the cougar is history though.
lol, true. I love the sound of the turbo spooling. The best is when gong 50 or so on a 5th gear and push on a gas a little harder and the sound is just amazing, kinda like a turbo diesel Yep, exactly. I noticed that right away, and thats why at first i had to rev it up higher and slip the clutch more so there is less stress on the tranny.
No where in the v6 cougar's powerband will it EVER have more torque then a WRX... Learn to drive your car before you destroy it.
i believe that the fact he's talking about the sound of the turbo was implied when he said "the sound is just amazing" analogies.
your asking a group of subaru owners how do i change my oil... and asking guys to hold your hand while your flush your coolant.
I got to start somewhere. I bet someone showed/told you how to do it once. And thanks for being so nice and welcoming.
Im very nice and welcoming... i just dont like you at all... Ive dealt with euro kids with other dealerships ive worked at. All you do is flap your mouth and ask pointless questions...
Ha so you are a racist too. Way too go. U will go long way. You dont even know me and you already hate me.
I might do that! I babied my car for a long time just from fears of hurting it untill I really felt comfortable with knowing the rev points and all that for rev matching and upshifting and all that. I feel pretty comfortable with my car but I always know there is room for improvement and I have wanted to get into a class enviroment or have someone really show me my flaws and the best way to do it all. I see my friends drive their sticks and wont let them touch my car. Id agree that the start of our car when idling it is very easy to stall it out and too many people add way too many rpm to get their car going.
With most soobies initial torque they are actually one of the easiest cars to get rolling. Just thought I'd pitch that in. Try driving something like a prelude with a hydro clutch.
i agree...inital torque is nothing like a V8 ar anything but if you ust work with your clutch you can get it to roll(slowly) withough even touching the gas, you just hafta fighre out where it is
