^ I had mine jail broke for about a month. It was a constant battle with glitches and having to hard boot the phone. So when the mms update was released I restored it and updated. If apple opened the phone up for more advanced functions and different apps I think it would be better and more reliable than jailbreaking.

When I had jb the top of the screen with the status bar would turn black when ever I opened an app and wouldn't come back til the phone was locked and unlocked. Also when I dialed using the keypad the tops of the numbers were missing haha. I think it was caused by using the winter board app.

Currently I have to redo my itunes, for the 6th time because for some reason it cant find my files, that havent moved.. at all. Which wouldnt be a problem if I had like 1k songs, but I have 13000 songs that I need to specify the location for each
And as far as not knowing about iTunes, I am fully aware that you can convert the songs to play other places, but why waste the time? Why cant apple just give you an MP3 like the rest of the world? haha

    ^^

Because MP3 is now pretty much obsolete. Much less lossy codecs out there that just require a little more processing power. MP3s were meant to function on very low processor machines. Its an old technology now.

Meh. I'd give it 3 1/2 goatse's. Good for one quick read-through, but not enough for me to come back and go through it again. I'd say it makes a good rental.

Well, I can tell you I've spent over a 8 hours of work this week working to repackage both Quicktime and iTunes for automated installation. As folks have already mentioned in this thread, Apple seems to enjoy jamming pretty much every piece of their software down your throat if you want to use iTunes, and also enjoys to remove any damn enterprise support from pretty much all of their products (Apple to everyone: "Sorry, silent install switches are no longer supported for an iTunes installer," Me: "**** you").

I'll say this, iTunes works fine if you're a regular home user who can deal with the bloat. However, if you want a slim install, it is not going to be your music player of choice.

Try http://www.getsongbird.com/. It can import your iTunes library, works with your ipod, and also actually does cool things like allow add-ons and customization.

Well, it doesn't integrate with the Apple store, if that's what you're asking. I haven't used songbird with a iphone, so couldn't tell you if that works.

Consider yourselves inflamed by my comment! :p

When did they do that? I didn't know they had that capability. Granted, I haven't used Winamp in ....4 or 5 years? Pretty much since I discovered iTunes for Windows.

I'm calling the RIAA and reporting you Scotty. lol how's it goin dood? Long time no see!
SIDENOTE: Top Gear new season starts this Sunday, right?

Sounds to me like you're maybe having multiple directories for your files. AKA, not allowing iTunes to automatically copy files to your iTunes music directory and automatically organize? I know it's a little of a leap of faith to hand over that trust to software, but it does do a very good job of it.

+1 He's right. Even 192kbps MP3s show their weakness in a system as average as my car stereo with component speakers. Warbly strange highs and utterly missing bottom end.

I agree with you 100% in the part I've put bold. We're all Sprint here, so the most complicated software we've got is Blackberry Desktop Manager. I can only imagine nightmares coming from enterprise level packaging of iTunes.
