ewg? there are far better ewg up pipes to go with if thats what you are in the market for. turboxs and ur both have better setups. if its a regular up pipe you are looking for i would go on nasioc and buy one used. there are tons on that sight for cheap an for stock turbo applications they will all act vary similar

    seriously, again?

anyways, any and all EWG pipes will provide you with the same benefits, however they will all be more to have a set up than a now EWG...if you dont need it yet, i dont see the reason to go EWG

what turbo and what modle and year?

I could sell you my stock 06 uppipe, it is non catted an dwould be an improvment over a catted uppipe, but if you are going for a big turbo, the ewg is the way to go.

why not support a local seller? I say go for the grimspeed uppipe and you'll be happy with it. From the reviews I've read they are a bit better then the standard uppipe so it up to you.

i can honestly say the turboXs EWG pipes are horrible. I have personally ported two of them now at grimmspeed and both had HORRIBLE weld marks where the EWG pipe was made. also the area where the flanges were put on has horrible welds and doesnt come close to matching up with the gasket.

fobia please stop posting **** like this, on this subject, you have no idea what your talking about.

I love the few grimspeed bits I've got, their gaskets are awesome!!! I was actualy looking into going with an external waste gate. I think you could call them at grimspeed and get a feel for it. I was going to call then in like 3 minutes for the same thing.

Dont forget that grimmspeed now offers the block off plate so that u can still buy a EWG uppipe and not run an EWG. this way u can runt he stock one for now and still buy an EWG later and not have to buy 2 pipes.

we had a hand full out of about 150 sold up pipes that the bend came to close to the crossmember. since then we have changed up the bend so its no where near the crossmember.

I had the TXS ewg pipe when it fist came out, not so good imo. I didnt even fit with there 4" downpipe, you had to buy a d/p they made to work with the uppipe. Kind of shady if you ask me. I have never seen the GS version.

Our EWG Kit is the only kit(other than TXS's newest design..i actually think its the P&L version of the TXS that fits) that fits with the huge TXS 4" DP.

    Rex,

I'm not going to pretend that I know the answers, but one thing I do know is if you live near St. Paul you could ask Justin if you could stop by the grimmspeed shop to take a look at his companies up-pipe and have him explain to you in person why he feels his product is better then others. Also this would allow you to see the product in person, rather then pictures. I'm not trying to speak for Justen, but I'm guessing he won't object.

Justin please tell me if I'm out of line by advising this.

staying stock turbo 02 wrx sedan, IWG would be fine then..?
    stage 2 with TBE
I guess any uppipe would work fine as long as no fitment issues

alright, I deleted a ton of posts. some of which had some relevant information in them, but were so convoluted with BS that I deleted them anyway.

Matt and Justin, you're both smart guys, you both have good information. keep it constructive, keep it to yourself, or take a vacation. BOTH OF YOU.

Thank you. now back to your previously scheduled thread.

IMHO, you do not need an external wastegate until you go beyond bolt on turbos like 20g's and what not. Port your internal wastegate

absolutely Ryan. We have locals come by the shop almost everyday to check things out. Rich(sales) and I are always down for showing why our products have the great reputation that they do.

It really depends on what you want out of the car...its not a matter of what is "fine". It has been shown time and time again that you definitely pick up nice gains and spool by running an ewg on a stock turbo(even TD04s). Actually, TD04s are insanely fun to drive as a daily driver..this is my setup right now... EWG on TD04 and its a blast. EWG's are definitely more expensive to run though too so it depends on how deep your pocket book is.

From all the uppipes i've seen (megan, titan erz, turboxs, ur, bpm [LOL weak], invidia, ssac headers [LOL weak], gtspec headers, and GS)
The closest IMO are the newer turboxs and GS.

i guess it matters how hard you want to squeeze a td04. I myself would buy a used vf39 before I'd buy an uppipe for a td04....

^ yes but that uppipe will work for a VF39 or a TD04 or even a TD06 20G. It all depends on how long you want to stay IWG.

you don't need a flex in a up pipe. i prefer not to have one because if they fail your turbo fails. and i have never seen a up pipe fail because it didn't have a flex in it but i have seen the flexes fail. its really up to you.
