Thank God it's over. I no longer have to wake up screaming after the nightmare of a possible Palin presidency :ugh:

    Yup. Straight down the ****ter.

    I share your pain.

Let's see where the debt is in 4 years after Obama expands the government.

    Screw it.

Let this thread get out of control and keep it from spilling over into the rest of the forum. Turn this into Thunderdome for the night and let everyone have at it for a while. Like they say in the Godfather: "We have to do this now and again. It gets rid of the bad blood"

IBTL I thought it was a good speech and he gracefully conceded,no hard words or anything like that, just overall support for our great nation! Now to pay more taxes and distribute my money to other people! Yippy.

Sure. Contrary to a lot of the **** that gets posted here (and honestly, all over the internet), political discussion can be civil and help both sides learn.

Personally, I just don't like the "we're all ****ed" reaction. Sorry, the American political system is set up to work slowly as hell. Nothing major regarding funding or American law will change immediately. The best thing Barack Obama can do right now for America is give a better face and voice to America. Many people all over the US are pissed off and scared, and Obama has shown he can inspire millions. That shouldn't be overlooked.

True, and it's both parties fault for letting it get there. Sure, Reid and Pelosi have proven to be the biggest ****ups since...well, I can't remember when. But the Republicans haven't proven much better. One thing that's been overlooked is that some of our current problems can be traced back to the Clinton presidency, but Bush seems to have become the catchall for anything that goes wrong in the country. The government has stopped listening to the people, the vote for the bailout bill was clear evidence. Politics should be service, not a career.

Even with things as bad as they are, we're still living in the greatest country on the planet.

I'm still lmao by how much Obama won by...wow! Now, maybe the disenfranchised and underrepresented groups will gain a voice in our political system.. This is a step that our country has needed to take for a loooooooong time.

and to ruffle feathers a bit, Shorten, do some more research... there are obvious reasons why you can blame it on Clinton too, when there is a plan set out and established and you bastardize the hell out of it and dont reform and adapt it, its not going to work. go on and talk to some ACTUAL economists about it, not E-Know-It-Alls... come on man, i expected more from you.

Personally, I'm looking to the extra monies Barack's tax plan is going to give me. Since I'm in the "I'm lazy and don't work category," that makes less then 100k/year. :) The Bush tax cuts for the rich (250+/year) are simply bad for the country.

The problem is that neither candidate talked about balancing the budget, which is a major issue. :(

Honestly, the best thing I can get out of this election is the amount of buzz it has generated with my generation. It's very hard to get young people excited about politics, and Obama has done it. This is straight up required for the political health of our country.
