Hello crew. As always, I am posting to let everybody know of our ice-driving events with the ACGL. This year we do have enough ice and I am holding the first event of the season this Saturday (the 14th) at Cynthia lake. No ACGL membership required. No helmets required. Cost is $60 for non members. Registration is on MSR (motorsportreg.com) but can also be done on site. Car must be in good running shape with absolutely no leaks. We start at 8am sharp, with a drivers meeting on the ice. We end in the late afternoon after clean-up. The sanctioned lunch spot is the Horse n Hunt club. There are several Subbies on the list already. Looking forward to Saturday! Usually it's pretty much just a casual day on the lake learning how to control your car on the ice/snow. Large sweeping track, skid pad, and typically some sort of evasive driving challenges with cones. Always a good time with a bunch of great guys from ACGL! I've been a few times and i've always enjoyed myself.
They are pretty non-biased when it comes to participants. As long as you drive within the vehicles limitations. Wonder if the R8 will be out there again this year?
I am not sure of the Forester, but there is a minimum rollover characteristic rating that is allowed. X3, X5, Q5 and Q7 are allowed, and I know that for sure. No R8 on the registration list this year. I had a lot of fun with the R8 at Superior a few years ago. I made that video 2-3 years ago and it was sooo much fun and so cold. See everyone tomorrow!
Crud, I missed this. Anything else like this later this winter? I would love a low key event like this!!\
I feel like they do it multiple times, weather pending of course. Hopefully this heatwave coming doesn't kill all the ice.
Yep, there are 3 more ice driving events on their calendar: January 28 February 12 February 25 Link to the Audi Club's upcoming events: http://www.audiclubglacierlakes.org/events/event/listUpcoming
This thing was awesome. Highly recommended. 60$ but you get tons of time on track ( i did >65 m i l e s. Sideways today). Very minimal wear on car/tires etc too. Multiple Spin outs etc are ok too unlike autocrosses.
