I'm heading up tomorrow (Thursday). I plan to head out after my morning class. I figure I'd be up there around 3PM. I'm kind of figuring heading out of Mankato around 10AM, up through the Cities before noon. I'm not sure if there is a convoy that's heading up around noonish or not. ...no snowmobile...
sounds good, I will be around. But if you dont see me the course is down the boat landing a to the right. Its in the same place as last yrs 2nd race.
sweet. Last call for a friday noon caravan. I am leaving at noon from the cities if anyone wants to cruise up there.
I had allmost 300 on my other track, but after it blew the track I decided to put less, the large amount of studs was slowing me down alot
from the looks of things, we will be able to get alot of seat time. Hopefully I can get more pictures this time, I only got about 200 last time. I am also bring a video camera up too. From NOAA.gov Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 7. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -7. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Friday: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 16. Calm wind becoming north between 5 and 10 mph. Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -3. North wind between 5 and 10 mph. Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 14. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -5. Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 25. Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 4.
Hmm, looks like I'll be heading up Friday morning instead...got too much crap I still need to do for next week. It's looking kind of daunting the more I look at it. Depending on how much I can get done today, it may or may not be all that feasible to head up at all. I'd be reluctant to head up for just one day. I'll at least have to bring a chunk of work with me.
Karen will be home at 530 and im here. Tried to do some more plowing but the truck wont go into 4wd I managed to get it fairly wide.
^ did you try the old "Pull her into 4wd as you back up and slam on the brakes trick"? That used to work in my dad's Worn out Chevy 98% of the time haha.
I am all packed. Just have to get up (sleeping in alittle) get some gas and a car wash, then hit the road. I hope 3 quarts of extra oil will be enough for this trip.
just got home. both cars made it there, and home under their own power. between the few of us that were driving them, we put about 60 miles EACH on them, just on the ice. I didn't take too many pictures, and only a few short video clips. but I'll get them up soon.
I just got back a little while ago. We saw a Blue WRX with florida plates pulled over on 35 South. I believe this is the same car I saw in Rich's garage with a radiator issue?!?! I took about 900+ pics and there is also an hour of video. I am working on it now.
Thanks Again Rich and Karen!! had a blast!! i like you horses Karen!!! oh and thanks for the driving lessons, when you and Kyle are in my car i drive like a pro lol
^ Thats good, to hear. I was kind of thinking it wold have been tint, the Florida plates (out of state) draw alot of attention.
HAHA yeah I saw you guys pass as I was sitting there. He picked me out of the middle of a group of 5 or 6 random cars as we drove past. Because of the tint for sure. I just bought the car and I'm still waiting for the bank to get me the title so I can transfer the plates. I was super respectful to him and pumped up his ego a bit, explained I was only driving as fast as traffic around me and that the tint came on the car like that so he let me off with a warning. The radiator fix made it home in case any one was wondering... Thanks a ton Rich for letting me work on it in your garage!!
Thank you Rich and Karen! I loved the track! Rich- I forgot the lobster crackers in the glove compartment of your Rhino, sorry!
Thanks for everything Rich and Karen! I just realized that I left a slush pile in your garage and I feel terrible about it. I wasn't sure what to do with it since the drain was plugged, then my car broke again and I completely forgot to ask you about it... I'm really sorry. Also, on the top of the fridge in cabin #1 I thing I left a "nitro Circus" dvd, feel free to have it, I didn't get a chance to watch it, but I heard it's awesome! Thanks again for everything, and I owe you a big one for all the garage time
Indeed, Huge thanks Rich and Karen. This was an amazing time. I am already looking forward to next years event. Hopefully my driving skills will have improved by then.... (less backwards, snow bank time! HAHA!) I have a ton of pictures as I stated. I think the majority are of the Wagacy and of Karen, as they seemed to be out on the track the most. If you want CDs/DVDs of my pics let me know and we can work something out. Also I just ripped the video onto my HDD. It looks like there are some pretty good spots and other that arnt so good. (Kyle your stuff turned out pretty well ;-) ) Alot of the lead camera car stuff didnt turn out so hot since snow was hitting the lens leaving water droplets. I will see what I can whip up from it.
Yep, good fun, a relaxing weekend. It was also the first time I got to use my current suspension setup in any kind of "sport" environment. The fish was yummy.
i had an absolute blast! the track was so much nicer this time around. unfortunately, i left my memory stick for my camera at home like a moron so i don't have any pics or videos but i know josh does. i'll work on getting what we've got online. we don't have much because we spent most of our time out driving. holla! matt - hope you didn't think we just abandoned you yesterday. one of my tires got some ice in it and was leaking air pretty bad so we went up to the garage to fix it. we saw you coming back from our "how many miles do we have to drive before this dumb error light turns off!" run. i know we have at least some video of you. will post/PM once it's off the camera!
videos! #1 - first lap, not too exciting but you can see the course layout from saturday running the course normally. #2 - more in car cam, from sunday running the course backwards (which was way more fun!!)
