damn i would be down for this if my motor mount wasn't f'd... the new set is in the mail but not sure if it will arrive on time
I'll be there on Saturday with my 20ft recovery strap. so if someone gets stuck then we can use that (and not have to endanger our lives with hooked straps :eek3: )
^ taking all the fun out of it huh? angus: i wonder if perhaps someone on here has an extra motor mount laying around. you may want to post up a WTB thread quick.
Anybody just planning on heading up for some fun and returning at the end of the day??? I would like to go but am not really looking to spend the night. This would be my first time there if i go. Plz inform me on what is needed and what to expect so i can make a diffinate desicion.
if your just coming up for the day, nothings really needed, besides u, maybe some food and an extra pair of shoes/sox.
I'll just be going up for the day on Saturday. of course, I'm less than 2 hours away...so that helps. if you do go that route, just bring a little food for lunch (I'll probably bring a few sandwiches and a couple cans of pop). and make sure you've got a basic emergency tool kit (nothing more than you'd bring on any other trip like this...)
It's going to be more organized this time, but it's still a pretty informal event. When you show up, just find someone, probably out on the ice, and introduce yourself. We'll let you know what's going on. If it's after noon on saturday we'll probably be doing the timed runs. Bring warm clothes and boots, etc, in case you have to dig yourself out of a snowbank. Bring food and some pop or something to drink. Top off your tank before you get there, you'll burn a lot of gas on the ice. Clean the extra stuff out of your car so it won't be flying around when you're on the course. PM me if you want my cell phone number. Maybe other people are going up will share their numbers too, in case someone gets lost on the way up, etc...
i am planning on heading up friday and coming back sat. i am looking at leaving around 11-12 on friday, but i will be stopping in duluth hopefully. w/ a late night drive back on sat.
How much is it to stay over night in one of the lodges??? Whats included in the price??? Just in case something happens and need to stay over.
It's $35 a night. Yeah, the other ice race threads had more details... http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14722 www.deerlodgeresort.com I'm not sure how many cabins Rich reserved for the ice race this time so I don't know if there'll be beds/couches available, but at least there's tons of floor space. There's a kitchen in the cabin and last time people brought up more than enough food for everyone.
I am leaning towards not being able to go. I have been busting my butt trying to get work done over spring break with no help from my other design partners. They have not helped much this semester at all so I get stuck with all the work. SO anyway that means most likely I can not go. Someone wanta stop by and pickup the cones feel free.
How's the plowing going up there, Rich? I hope you're feeling better now anyway. If you need help setting things up, let me know. I could try to get up there earlier tomorrow and help out.
w00t! see u guys tommorow! i should be up there around 3ish i think, rich when r u working till tommorow?
Just got in from plowing the course. everything looks good. All I had time for was a course, no skid pad or anything. I will get that on Sat morning
I'm planning on leaving from the north metro around 10 or 11am tomorrow. If anyone wants to drive up at that time, let me know and we can meet somewhere.
u can give me a call after 12 sometime tommorow, and let me know where u r at, maybe we can meet up on 53 if we r close together by chance. we r guna try to be leaving duluth around 1. 218-370-0856
Ok, I can do that. Oh and my wife is cooking up 3 lbs of hamburgers that I'll bring up for dinner tomorrow night. Not all just for me, I'll share.
I'm trying to get on the road no later than 2pm. That should put me up there at 6pm. What should I bring with other than a change of warm clothes and a couple sandwiches?
Oh yeah, and I'm renting a phatty-McPro telephoto lense and bringing my tri-pod too to hopefully get some sweet pics.
I forgot my boots at home, so I have to run home and get them before coming to your place Stat. God I'm, retarded. I had like 3 things to remeber and forgot 1. I blame the 8-10 hours of studying philosophy yesterday.
Hopefully up there doesn't look like down here!!! I'm driving on a very shallow creeks everywhere i go!!! I think they use to call them streets!!!
prezawagon, Statgsr, bumpy and grayguy are here now, The lake looks good, much faster course this time
best palce to stop would be in Cook, or Orr. you better top off your tank, most people are out of gas right now
Man I wanted to be there!!:emo: Financials blow, and I'm sick as h3ll! Hope you guys have a good time!!!....i know you will!
few teaser pics: http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/Numbchux/Ice Race 2007/ I was only there for about 3 hours today...but had an awesome time! the weather was perfect! warm enough to be standing outside in just a hoody, not too windy, and the sun kept the course from getting slick. it wasn't a fast course, but it sure was fun :woot: good sized crowd too, a few guys to talk to, but still lots of room on the course. So, you guys missed out, but were only missed a little :wavey:
Pictures are uploading right now. www.flickr.com/photos/bummpy I'll post some to the thread when they're done.
We ended up shooting some video, so we'll have to get that up somewhere too. This weekend was by far the most fun I've ever had in a car. I'll definetly be back next year, and with my own car then!
hey cool! looks like just the perfect amount of snow both on and off the track. a little for traction, and not glare ice on the track... and not too deep when you have too much fun and go off!
I'm uploading some pics now, I'm going to start a new thread in the photo/vid section for the photos. Thanks Rich for hosting another awesome event. I had a great time. pics thread. http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?p=280953
