Yah, come on guys look at the map. you see where Orr is? that close to the north pole they gotta have enough ice. although we should probably be moe careful this year. i remember teh mix spotting some water coming through the ice last year (followed by a mad-dash to move cars lol). Perhaps i will need to give the high speed ring a second chance. I might also have to see how stuck i can get lol.
Here is a link to another resort up there that has a webcam setup, just to give you an idea what the conditions are. http://www.ashtraillodge.com/wintercam.html
I got tired of waiting for a subaru so I picked up this neon for the ice race, im going to start studding the tires this weekend View attachment 1955
is it an SOHC or DOHC neon? You might be able to do a fewe cheap "performance mods" on that thing. Can make a CAI out of home depot piping and make a "sport" exhaust with a hacksaw.
YES, except there'll be a little black loyale dominating them all in fact, there's a video alot like that that I took with justin's camera out on the circle track last year. of the same 4 or 5 people ripping by very much going sideways (and every now and then, they'd overcorrect...)
^ yea i remember that vid, me and justin were runing i think and a couple others. Anyone have that vid still?
well, I got a bit of it on my camera....but I thought I was using a real video camera while I was out there last year....maybe it was 95lwrx's. but I did find this from the old thread: and here's a link to that thread: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9820&highlight=ice+race
i have the vid but it's in my temp files and i can't for the life of me get a link to it(i've been trying for an hour)
I will bring my dv camera with about 8blank tapes... so plenty of taping action... especially the goings on in cabin 3.... that should give me enough blackmail material to build 3 cars.. ha ha ha
those ones are mine.... it would be really sweet if you guys could come by my place on the way home. I've got a video capture card on my desktop. and we could pull all the video off of your cameras. and I can/will put together a big video of it all. if I get enough good stuff, I'll even put together a DVD! as far as travel time/distance is concerned, it's barely out of the way....
Well I am hoping to bring both digital video camera with (one has night shot). Lots of footage from those. I am just stock piling any footage I take at the events I make. Hope someone will take it all someday and put it all together.
I might borrow a digital cam from a friend of mine. plus cell phone camera/camcorder. 1.0 mg pixel of stunning clarity, wowzors!
^ yeah russ is bring his monster camera with like 3 gigs of cards. i think i am content to not brign a camera this year *GASP*
wow so I'm leaving my crap at home. at least I wont lose another one. Sounds like there is going to be plenty of footage when everything is said and done.
Who here has adjusted coilovers before? I'm seriously thinking about ditching the MagWag idea and bringing the scoob. Let me clarify. Who has adjusted them before, because I need to know how jacked my alignment could be, even if I set them at the exact same perch points. And if it will be unsafe to drive.
2 inches of ice and 6 inches of snow, not looking too good right now. Hopefully alot of the snow will melt off today so we can get some good ice
oo00ooo 2" is better then 0 here. As for you coils jason, what type of adjustments are you talking about? ride height? camber? toe? caster? I have done ride height before on my old coil over strut coils. it isnt very hard. if you want to raise it chances are you will start going positive on camber (just a guess). Just an FYI last year at the ice race i was on my coils, raised all the way up, and never had an alingment done since i put them on. it didnt handle stupendously but it got the job done. Thinking about putting those M&S tires to the test?
Yes, puttin the tires to the test. I know how to adjust them and all. I was just worried that if I raised the car up, I'd need an alignment. I might just mark the perches to the shaft and hopefully I can get them pretty damn close when it comes time to put it back. I want to raise the car about 2 inches all the way around.
IMO you should be perfectly fine raising the car. cuase you arnt going to be changing any other bolts on the coils besides the spring perches. so when you lower them the car "should" return back to the normal settings. of course this may not hold true if you bail hard core into an ice bank, but if this happens alignment is the least of your worries.
well, i've done a lot of work with coilovers and I can say that as long as you only adjust height and really are accurate when you change between places on the coil it won't destroy your alingnment too bad. The problem is when you jack it up the only choice you have is to measure from hub center to fender and make sure theyre all as close to even as possible, but this won't assure you that the alignment at that height is 100% great. the worst that should happen is you lose a bit of static negative camber. i wouldn't call it unsafe to drive though. your stiff springs are stil going to be stiff no matter where the ride height is though. are they tein flex or ss?
