Time to consider driving it to a 'hood and leaving it running with door open on a poorly lit street corner...

I have a fiesta. That thing WILL NOT DIE!! My sister hit two deer over the course of a week and a half in it and I have ran it up and down old log trails up at my parents lake place for years. The worst that has ever happened is I ran over a tree I knocked down with it and a branch come through the floor and nearly crotched me!!

Haha. Word of advice though..........Don't drive it in reverse as fast as you can and then throw it into drive on asphalt. It sounds like a good idea but I lost first gear last time I did that.

It just continues!!!!!! Tonight the car wouldn't break above 10psi and it felt really funny. Can you have internal wastegates freeze up? I mean it is COLD out there!

Freeze open bc of the cold? Probably not... especially with the amount of heat that goes through the turbo. Did the actuator arm c-clip pop off? Maybe the hose? What are you running for boost control? Sounds like you're running wastegate pressure.

Well looks like I am not making it to the ice races, priority number one is get a safe tune!

I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my car and these freezing cold temps are not helping!!! :(

My ******* self got a tune on one of Minnesota's best choices for gas ... not thinking about winter and the winter blend. I started getting CEL's from stations that were not giving me CEL's in the fall and early winter about a 3 weeks ago. I started logging and saw nothing out of the ordinary to me. Until yesterday I sent my logs to Nuke and he showed me I was getting knock from 2300-3200 (fine correction was -1.4 to -1.05) under load while doing a 3rd gear pull. Then instructed me to take 1* of timing out of that area and do another pull. Great well today got say 10* colder than yesterday and after the initial pulls the knock went away. Then things got bad ... I think. I started to get a fine correction of +.35 at some points and my AIM was going in between 16 (where it has always been) to 14-15-16-15-16-15 where it stayed at 15.

Any advise? I would post my logs so that folks could see but I don't know how?

    Thanks
    Chet

Anyone with a leak down test I can borrow before the ice races? Or any shop I can go to? Or compression tester?

I don't think are cars are anything alike.

Mike you said you didn't cause your tires. And just cause I accelerate daily doesn't mean I don't keep up on maintenance. ... Cough coilovers cough cough.

Chet, all of this sounds completely normal. Of course having your IAM at 16 is ideal, but having your IAM bounce between 14-16 is perfectly normal and safe (especially on the 2.0L WRXs). The Subaru ECU is designed to do this as gas changes depending on location within the United States.

-1.4 feedback correction (knock) and -1.4 fine learning correction (learned knock correction) are also fine. I would say anything more negative then 1.4 is bad, but learned -1.4's are still perfectly safe. -1.4 is the smallest correction the ECU will save, and simply means there was one singular knock event in that RPM/load area and the ECU learned to pull timing.

Positive fine corrections are good. This means your car is adding timing back in because it is happy.

your not getting my point. you were almost bragging about how much you beat on the car everytime you drive it haha. i said i dont do snow shens because my front camber making it understear... thats not really a maintenance issue thats just suspension settings. and idk what i could have said about tires other than i just got new ones on... where were you during that convervaion?

my point was that you were telling me that you love to really rip on the car. thats whats gonna rip on your engine lifespan

i dont accelerate hard on my car in winter to keep it good for the summer

I let my engine warm up and I guess I don't consider I "rip" on it. After blowing one motor trust me I'm on top of everything.

Thanks for the kind word Nate, that reassuring.

And again get your facts straight Jason, I did an oil change 1k previous to the 2.5qts leaking out. I've ALWAYS done my oil changes on time.

Cough oil change cough cough is insinuating I didn't change my oil. And yeah in my previous car I had no need to check my oil, even with 150k on the 4.6 I put 5qts in and it had 5qts 3k later. Guess this ain't no domestic :dunno:

other then to make sure you had oil. I am not trying to be an ass or anything but it could work great for 150k but at 151.5k something happens and there goes your oil. It takes 2 seconds to check it.
