Who on here has an upgraded ignition system? I'd like to learn more and I'm currently doing some research. What are the pros/cons? At what age and/or power level does the stock wrx system fall short? I was intrigued when I came across these. http://www.rallysportdirect.com/sho....html?osCsid=06a1b0d91411da2741763f96f16493a3
Dunno, but on the Okada website, they have a dyno comparo of stock vs. okada coils on an ej20 that showed good increases. At 6-700 per set, there are for sure upgrades you would want to do first. I kind of told myself when I saw the price that I would most likely put it off until my stock coils die, or when I get rich, whichever comes first.
I guess if your just throwing money around buy them. But hey people seem to be making over 500 on stock coils.......
:laugh: are you joking? yes, it's so you don't accidentally turn the key and start the car while it's in gear
Glad you found some useful info. Matt is extremely biased but really smart. He's kind of OCD and I've known him since before he ever ran his own shop. He can grate on your nerves but I've learned that 99% of the time he is dead on the money. He helped start and run Revolutions Motorsports in Colorado Springs. That is one of the premier tuners in Colorado. They are one of the top 3 tuners in a region that is FULL of tuners (6 AWD dynos between Boulder and Colo Sprgs). He recently quit there due to some personal issues (I'm also friends with his previous partner) but he knows his stuff. If Matt tells me that most ignition systems are a crock I'm inclined to believe it.
My wasted spark setup is more dependent on the condition of my plugs than anything. I've been to 28 psi with my ignition and there were no misfires. Granted copper plugs don't last very long at pressures like that, but I change them with oil anyways, lol.
