I am so pissed off , but I think this is the right section to put this thread. long story short. About a year ago my GF's dad brought my her car, a 95 impreza wagon, to tires plus because the brakes were not working very well. When my GF got the car back said that the brakes were behaving just like before it was "fixed". Unfortunately, both her dad and she neglected to bring it back to tires plus to have it checked again. Then about a month ago I drive the car and brakes like ****, I look at the invoice and it says calipers and rotors replaced and pads. Just by visually looking at the calipers they look a thousands years old, the rotors as well. I know that it doesn't mean anything, but the calipers should be only 1 year old, how can they possibly be so rusty? So today I went to TP roseville at 4pm, they made me wait an hour then the lady told me that my ticket got bumped 2 tickets behind from the other clerk. I am like, WHAAAAT! WTF, you made me come here at 4pm. So I told them to **** off and left. For the record: the car was serviced in duluth, in the meantime it was driven 8k, 90% highway, the pedal is mushy, brake fuild is close to max and they charged close to $800 at the time. I will have to go back, but I'll go to another one. Does anybody know someone who works at TP? I can fix it myself but why bother since THEY didn't do the job and got paid. Is it possible that they didn't replace the calipers as they said? what do you guys suggest I should do. Thanks for reading, BTW.
I know 2 guys that own 6 of them in the cities... they bought my old shop... but I wouldnt go to them... first thing you should do is realize that the things that stop your car are called BRAKES giving you crap about typing breaks )... then maybe take it in.. suck it up and deal with it.. telling a shop that is supposed to clean up another shops issues to **** off isnt gonna get you far
Yikes. Well I guess it is just another reason to do your own work on your car. Brake work is pretty easy to do, calipers/rotors/pads is maybe a 2 hour job for all four corners if you are taking your time. I am sorry to say it, but I dont think that it is likely that they will do anything about it if you are complaining about a brake job from over a year ago. They will probably say something about why didnt you come in sooner, yada yada yada. Good luck!
labor - 90days most parts 1yr.. pads maybe lifetime.. but usually 1 yr unless upgraded... Franchise workings
is it possible that they put old calipers or they did not replace the calipers at all and charged me for it?
That would be a question for them. Its possible that they didn't do calipers. BUT, its possible that they did.
This should have been dealt with a year ago when the service was performed (supposedly). Coming back a year later and complaining is unreasonable IMO.
Over a year, they could claim it on many things. Neglect, abuse, etc. Pretty much suck it up and re-do it yourself.
Here's what you do. Lift the car up, take off all the wheels. Remove caliper pin bolts, and make sure all the slides move freely. Make sure the pads aren't stuck in your brass shims. Be sure to check that the caliper pistons move in without excessive resistance. Clean all filthy parts, bleed the fluid, and test it. Should work better.
Should ALWAYS check your vehicle first before driving away from their lot(any kind of maintnance). Especially if you havn't pay yet. I remember taking my 97 Honda Odyssey to PepBoys for all strut change and they forgot to put in the sleeve shock cover for the rears. My dad checked as I went inside to pay. Came back out, he told me about it and I went straight back inside. Did got it back on.
Oh the grammar/spelling in this thread is giving me a headache. Your SOL man, " Unfortunately, both her dad and she neglected to bring it back to tires plus to have it checked again." Also, bakk forr it then you shuld gett et shop to them
