I have some Videos of cars from AUstralia ranging from WRX's to Skylines etc... I want to project it onto the wall in the workshop while we work and chat etc?!?! just some fun for the night... heres a link to check them out... https://www.racingbeat.com/video/seriousvideo.htm I have 3 different ones... Will bring a Video Player to hook into it... may need a speaker?? I should be able to score that one at least... Please confirm the projector with me the week of the meet... thanks.. a lot
By The Way Everyone bring a picnic folding chair or something so ya have something to chill on while watching...
Just curious but what is the order of installs? I said awhile back that I will have an uppie to install which I do but nothing else unless I can't get my gauges done sooner which is a possibility. Could you please post up a list of what order the installs are so in case any changes need to be made because of how long a certain project will take.
First page of Topic... there is a list of names... that will be the order as that was the order of people saying yes... so by the looks of it your up-pipe is 2nd... I will set out an install sheet in the next day or so... My business has been sooo busy this last 2 weeks I glance at teh forums and thats it... 1. TheGC8 : Brake Pads install, struts, strut bars, unbolt heat sheild 2. MNAutomatic : up-pipe / suspension 3. TeamMNS : Exhaust Install - Brakes... 4. Grimm : F&R Sway Bar install, TBE Install maybe and then maybe some alignments...?? REMEMBER I have 3 Smaller 2 post lifts (9000 pounds) and 1 12000 pd 2 post truck lift, 1 12000 pd 4 post and a 12000 pd alignment 4 post... So there are 3 - 4 working bays... Anyone got some tools they want to bring that would help as I have only MY toolbox available... it is a basic setup... most tools needed I have but we dont have an abundance of tools cause they are personal tools of my Techs... hope that helps
I can bring some tools too. I live very close. Impact wrench, socket driver, and some other air tools.
I'll be there with my tools...looks like I'll need a front axle...and whatever food I said I'd bring...I forgot already.
Sound wise if I can get my car close enough I have a line in on my stereo, then it should sound pretty good, other wise a large radio should work.
i also have line in, could do some wierd stereo set up, but from experience it just doenst sound to hot blasting sound in the car and your not in it. not saying it cant be done. however i could bring a stereo down ie(head unit, tubed amp, and GOOD bookself speakers) other then that i might wanna try messing w/ your pipe bender, see if i cant make something.
yea...and guess what? it was a napa reman... I may need to invest in some better axles anyway, replaced it this evening, but I think I should replace the gear oil in the tranny. do you have stuff like that there? how about a good place to drain it? or should I bring everything?
buy your own gear oil and use my lift and drain pan... We dont carry that in inventory cause we dont do it enough... and it would be cheaper for you to buy it anyways..
Well another question now that I know the order and know that I am one of the top two. Is everyone just gonna kinda chip in and help with every install or are we own for help? I got no idea how to do the UP pipe install although I am presuming its pretty straight forward but yeah. So some one wanna help me with this thing cause I got no clue what I am doing and got no tools as well. Do I need to bring anything besides the up pipe, bottom gasket, cna re use the other gasket I read and was told, and the bolts can be re used. Also I dont have the suspension to drop in, Zeals and Cusco are sold out everywhere so instead I might do my gauges so if someone would also like to help with that that would be cool.
I am sure people arent all there just to hangout... there will be people that will help.. I have my tool set there.. it is a basic set for a shop.. but it covers me for most of what I do when I work in the shop... The upipe takes about 45mins on the lift with air tools.. so it isnt that hard... gauges and stuf we can maybe do in empty bays if someone knows how to do it.. my FOCUS or THOUGHTS for the night are to offer my shop for those who dont have the jacks etc to do the exhausts and springs etc.... and to get to know more people / freaks...
If I come you can count on me getting my hands dirty and bringing a full set of tools. If you have no tools then just bring your parts and maybe stuff like shop towels, PB blaster spray lube, or food and drink!
i will still be there. i will bring my small tool set. i have some sockets, ratchets, hammers, allen wrenches the basic stuff. i have basics. i dont have much to do. i want to tinker w/ the pipe bender if you'll let me. but other then that i will be ready and willin to help out. i know virtually nothing about the newer turbo subies but i want to learn.
count me in for sure, I'm planning around it. and it looks like the GF will be there too, she's not much help, but she's pretty good company, and is really good at bringing food! still wondering about changing my tranny fluid. should I bring it, or is that something you'd have/could get me a deal on ? and I'd like to get my car up on the lift and go around and make sure everything is tight, just to make sure none of the bolts on the lift haven't come loose.
chux... we could use my machine to flush it... you would just have to cover the fluid... we use full synthetic.. so it isnt the cheapest... I believe it is like $14.99 gallon... so not too bad.... but wuth the flush you run around 2 gallons... at least
I hope to make it after work in Cambridge, MN. I plan to redo an up pipe on my MY05 Legacy GT and will bring the tools/supplies I need. Looking forward to meeting some of you. Don
yeah it is... but it is gauranteed by the manufacturer... works in 98% of transmission except constant velocity.... it is a littl emore but if people want to be cheap then they can buy the quart size and be on their way to their own house to do a CHEAP job... transmissions arent worth being cheap..
i'm willing to get my hands dirty. i haven't been under any WRXs yet, but i have worked crew on a couple of rallys for Mike Wray's legacy Sport. their pretty damn similar. (hell, we borrowed a coilover from Mark Utect's WRX to finish the race) but i'm not bringing my tools. sorry, but i'm a bit anal about hauling them around.
Are we good on the lift access? I'd like to strip my performance parts(pulleys, exhaust, and cai). I can bring food or beer or pop or whatever and I believe I have all the tools I need to get this done(except maybe pullies). If someone could lend a hand with the pulleys that would be awesome - I've never changed a set out before.
I have 6 working bays... for obvious reasons we wont be using all of them at once... (safety) we will use probably at least 3 of them at one time... we will see how it goes... I just have to make sure we have fun but also that no-one is hurt.... I will probably have to make up a waiver of some sort... just in case.. wouldnt want to put on this event and lose my store ha ha
Sweet. Should I bring anything being I'm bringing work and not much for mechanical skills  I also wanted to say that this is very cool you are setting this all up.
just wait and see what everyone else brings... then if stuff is needed people can runover to Cub foods... main thing is we will need to make sure we have plenty of drinks... and ice...... I have one cooler so if people have coolers maybe people could bring a couple for filling with soda etc
I read this whole thread front to back and I saw on the front you wanted exact jobs. I'd like to switch exhaust with lilred(catback system) - shouldn't take more than a half hour with a lift and a couple extra hands...also Paul and I are getting the gaskets we need. As for swtiching the CAI, we'll need a lift for just a couple minutes for reinstalling the right pedestal for the airbox then we could do the rest in the parking lot unless Yia wants his pedestal removed on his car. The pulleys should be out before install day so I'm not too worried we'll have to do them(impreziv can't make install day so we are arranging other plans).
if you pay for the freon $14.99 a pound... most cars take 2 pounds avg sorry I can allow the use of the machine but I cant afford to give all the supplies away... Most shops charge almost $30 a pnd nowadays
Alright well the date is coming near and I have asked almost all of my questions and am excited to hear that everyone there is willing to chip in and help with all of the installs. Since I have little to no knowledge of how to do an uppipe I want to make sure someone is gonna be able to do it for me so I dont show up lookin like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find someone to do it. Can someone please PM me saying that they are going to be there and are willing to do my up pipe, for a little cash or whatever we decide. I really want to make sure that I got this all set up so that nothing goes wrong this time like it has in my past two attempts at installing some new parts.
Ok... my Tech is hanging out for a few hours.. off the clock (HIS OWN TIME) I know there are a lot of knowledgable people here but also he is a TECH... he is willing to help out on the projects... but my SUGGESTION is if he is doing a big job for ya... tip him nicely... he isnt doing it to get rich... more to help out, see some cars... make a coiuple of bucks.. he needs it... For example... the suspension I am sure he would knock out in half the time as us... which would mean more cars get done... ALSO... can people email me confirmations by thursday on what they are bringing and what work they are planning... so we dont run around with out heads up our butts... I would like to see the night flow smoothly and most all people get stuff done... would be great... this is a first for me.. so I need all the info I can to make sure it works.. ie: PROJECTOR please confirm this is available.. I have a powered speaker..
Yay! We have a tech! Frankly, i think we should keep him on the alignment machine. looking at the list, most of the stuff is pretty easy stuff to do, but things like struts and coil-overs will need post install alignments to make sure it's done right.
I will be there with one of my friends helping out. I will help out with what I can. wrxboy - I would like to add tranny flush, radiator flush, and change the oil in my rear diff on top of installing my exhaust and brakes. What would I need to bring to do the flush? Or could I just get it from you? I can't wait for this weekend... its going to be so much fun.
projector will be there! 100%! Although i may not make it, i request it off work so see how that goes. Hopefully i get it off, if not i'll have fuji bring the projector. So either way the projector will be there!
ok... any fluids bar transmision fluid bring yourselves... ie: brake fluid... we have some so topping off is cool... coolant.. cheaper to get your own... if you want a flush with the machine then ours is setup in tubs so it would be 9.99 per gallon coolant and 14.99 per gallon DEXcool... transmission fluid is 14.99 a gallon... usually takes 2 gallons / 8 qts most vehicles... differential oil again is supply your own stuff... I am sorry but I just am not in the postion to provide all these little things for everyone... wish I could... If my tech is doing alignments then a spif would be real good.. most alignments are 69.99 4wh.. thats what we charge... so maybe like $20 would be a nice gester (suggestion not telling you) .... cheap for you bonus for him... remember these would be factory specs.. you could work with him to set it outside of factory rec... my machine allows you to punch in what specs you want it set at before you start I believe... but we arent responsible for your tires... ha ha.. Its 11pm.. just got back form Arlington where me and my buddy were building the grill for this weekend... little smaller than thought but about 1.5ft x 3ft... not too bad... charcoal... we are gonna design a bigger one in the future to run with gas.. oh well.. fun time.. man plasma cutters and brakes (sheet metal breakers) and huge laser cutters etc.. thought I was in the OCC factory.. ha ha ha... ps.. if ya got a screen for the projector it may be handy.. we should have a wall to project it onto... but screen would be a great backup... ha ha One thing I do ask... is please Keep the language to a minimum... As some may know I am a Youth Pastor / leader and I battle enough with my own mouth without having to listen to it all night... but dont stress... I aint gonna piss and moan all night if ya do.. just a request... civil tongues are more pleasant... anyhoooos This night should be fun... My wife is making fun of me about having a girls night with the boys.. ha haa she thinks only girls do this.. and I said what get greasy and work on cars all night.. ha haah all you women do is sit around like clucking chooks and lay eggs all night.. h ehehe REMEMBER: START TIME - 5PM ONWARDS (as late as people stay, but may call it quits by 12pm though) I close for the day around 4pm and need some time to get the place in order etc...
oh it starts 5pm? in that case i'll be there 100% since my work place closes at 5 on saturdays. I will also bring a projector scrn if my cousin still has it.
Sounds like a great time and I cant wait. I for one didnt expect free fluids or anything. Using the facilites you have for free is more than enough! I'll be helping my parents move this SAT. Also have to put my son to bed. Might not be there till like 9pm. Just have to see how the day plays out I guess. Would like to be there earlier so that ppl can use my tools if the need to. Honestly I'm pretty amped up about this grill!
