https://www.thedrive.com/news/30835...WvrZFxcIJcZKh629fHkFmwp-bEFFIZfrQbKtoEi4Affqw Up until the part that talks about the WRX being a CVT only model going forward...
only on the condition they don't make the car look really nice and then make it horribly slow like the last 2 door collab between subaru and Toyota.
Have you ever test driven one? It is essentially the same power as a stock bug eye WRX. Which isn’t the fastest thing on the planet, but I enjoyed my WRX at stock levels for nearly the first 5 years that I owned it. Then I came on here and was convinced that I “can haz moar powahz!?”
Five more HP is laughable. So is turning a WRX into a CVT only. Disappointing that they're not planning anymore. I myself would never buy a coupe. I hope that they don't do something drastic and only make a coupe.
Yeah i test drove a 2017 brz and an frs during the last daily driver purchase. Compared to other cars i also test drove it didn't impress me.
A performance Subaru should be turbocharged. They should contain as many potential failure points as possible. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
I was actually glad that the BRZ wasn’t turbocharged. My WRX’s needed a lot more upkeep. Although, I think that the BRZ could use a more powerful NA motor. If anything happens to the motor in mine, a 3.3L swap will be my goal!
And you do know a lot of this crap I post is just that, crap. I still have a big soft spot for Subarus, it's just they don't make anything I want...a four door sedan (not starting life as an econo-box), with 300+ HP, and without a CVT (I'm also not that keen on a stick shift at this point in life either).
I read different, I read that the "Yaris" based car will be one we don't get here in the US and is separate from WRX. My gut tells me that WRX will have 4 and 5 door variants (and maybe only in CVT) with the STI being 2dr coupe available in manual only. I think they will pull a stunt like that where STI does not get offered in hatchback configuration.
I don’t understand at all why they would offer the WRX with CVT only. Seems like they would sell a lot less of them. But then again, they’d potentially sell more STi’s? Unless people say screw it and buy an older model with a 5spd.
They have made a decision as a business to have their entire line at some point be available with Eyesight as standard, in order for that to happen the manual transmission would have to be sunset at some point. Babysteps?
Oh, I think you're right. I sort of skim over these super early speculating articles, as they rarely have any bearing on reality
I have my own eye sight. I don’t need Subaru’s. So sick of all of these stupid drivers aids. Learn how to drive and pay attention dammit!
In all seriousness, on a long trip on busy highways, the adaptive cruise control takes about 1/2 of the stress out of driving. I would happily live without the rest of the stuff our 2019 Forester has, but I'm never going to buy a primary vehicle that doesn't have that again.
The adaptive cruise control is the ONLY option that I wouldn’t mind having. I haven’t experienced it yet, but I hear it’s tits!
The two things I miss the most, from the loaded Legacy I traded in to get back into another manual Crosstrek - the climate control, and the adaptive cruise control. Well, ok, and the sunroof. The tradeoff to get back into a manual was barely worth it IMO...and if I was getting into another CVT/automatic transmission car, I wouldn't get one without adaptive cruise control again. It really is that awesome. It's better than tits. It's like, tits with bacon.
Alright, now I for sure know you guys are full of sh!t because that's the most ridiculous thing I've read on the internet in a long time. GTFO.
Did they fix the adaptive CC? My uncle has it on his Outback that's a few years old, and he said it was a lot of heavy braking and hard acceleration if someone moves out of/into your lane.
I was in a 2019 Legacy loaner while my car was in the bodyshop and didn't experience any of that, then again I probably used it for just about 30 min drive so FWIW...
