Hmm...You want a Subaru. I want an Audi. We should race for pink slips. Quarter mile race, but just remember it don't matter if I win by an inch or a mile. winning's winning.
That's even worse. Tell you what, I'll sell you my 09 NA Automatic Impreza for $10K. It's a good test bed for doing stupid stuff in high school, +low maintenance costs, +lower insurance, +you can wrap it around a tree at a slow enough speed that you won't die. You can learn what it takes to maintain a cheap car before jumping into something serious. Sounds good? Good.
Can you elaborate by what "bad" things you have heard about the 2008's? The main thing I have experienced and read with this particular year is the intake gaskets like to crack easy especially when the temperature is fluctuating greatly like it does in MN.
Turbo subaru's have terrible reliability. All of them. That's just how it is. The wants you have mentioned do not align with a WRX or an STi. Power means ****-all. You'll learn all about that when you start doing autox and have your ass handed to you by stock miata's. Furthermore... Seriously though, you're barking up the wrong tree for what you've said you want out of a car. What else is on your short list?
"I'm better than a lot of people out there" No, you aren't. You're a kid with very little experience. Daddy's car doesn't count. "Think of me as a responsible teenager" No. There is no such thing. "I'm not into stupid stuff", "the a4 leaves sti in the dumps". Yup. I'm sure you're not. The fact that your immediate reaction was to claim how good a driver you are speaks volumes. You're not as good as you think you are, and at your age you're too inexperienced to even realize it. You're acting like every other teenager who somehow defies thousands of years of human history by being responsible and "grown up". So, nice try kid, but you're not impressing anyone. absolutely no one is going to take your word that you're somehow the first typical teenager to be a good driver and always responsible behind the wheel. Remember that slow ass grand am? I street raced it. Because despite the fact that I "knew" I was responsible and a good driver back when I was a teenager, I was in fact like every other kid with a car and a gas tank for a brain. Dumb.
That's fine, you're just not going to like a Subaru either based on what you've said you want out of a car. I think you're hosed.
Get back to your studies, then. School is more important than getting beat up by a forum full of car guys.
Then don't get a car. Keep the money you have saved up for college or travel over the summers or literally anything but a turbocharged lesbo-mobile.
i think you missed my point... so now you'll have a 15,000$ car that has 120K miles on it, that's even crazier. i wanna come hang out at your money tree.
This. You can buy a car later when you're sure you want/need one. The window of opportunity for responsibility-free travel and shenanigans tends to slam shut rather abruptly and without warning. In the mean time, you're looking at some high maintenance machines of questionable value you're not sure you want; to address needs you don't have. Go find yourself a Spanish chick or something. Like... in Spain.
I would gladly trade my da yjob and cars for responsability-free travel for a whole summer. Being an adult sucks.
